Well it was blaze orange when it left the factory so that's the colour it will be painted. I've also been in touch with Newton commercial and they can supply the whole interior in the correct navy blue vinyl too so that's brilliant.

If any mods are reading this it might be worth moving to the project section as I'll be updating it whenever I do work on the car?

Woooooooo! Cheers for all the great posts I'm really feeling the love! lol

Well today we've been back down the garage and carried on stripping the car back to it's component parts.

There's not a massive amount that needs saying about it so here's some pics of our progress...

With everything disconnected we removed the front subframe and engine, not sure if this is the conventional way you experienced mini types do it but it seemed a fairly good solution..

The driveshafts are a lot different to what i know driveshafts to be and the car has a dynamo rather than an alternator which i found very exciting. Alsoit says Mowog on the bellhousiing which hopfully means it's retained its original engine setup..

Atfer a brief KFC break we resumed stripping but didn't take many pictures until we'd finished. So the mini ended the day looking like this..

So the mini is now tucked safely away in the garage. The next step I think will be a few hours spent unpicking the remaining odds and sods so the car is just a bodyshell. I'll also need to do some overtime to get some pennies together so I can get it dipped.

Cheers for reading.

Good work :)

It's an original car, so I'd expect the running gear to be pretty genuine.

Punch your engine code (found on a rivetted metal tag, under the 'stat housing- maybe hidden under a layer of gunge!) into Guessworks' decoder - http://www.guess-wor...=E25&P2S=&EN_NO= to get an idea of whether the engine is original.

Edit- link doesn't seem to be working at the moment :ohno:

Just went to try out my engine number on the guessworks site but it doesn't seem to be as simple as just typing in my number. Could someone tell me which bits are the:

Engine code
Engine code suffix
Engine serial number are?

Engine code is (or should be) 12H for a 1275cc of your vintage, then just keep going down the drop-down menus selecting the next part of your code. Serial number is the last 6 (or is it 5..) digits but this isn't really significant, it's the first few numbers and letters that tell you what the engine is :)

Is the engine code just on that piece of metal thats riveted to the front of the block? Can it be found anywhere else? it's just that mine is missing.

Yes, rivetted to a flat surface on the block, just below where the head sits, radiator end.

There are no other markings that give the same information, so in the absence of the plate, it's a case of stripping the engine to see what's inside I'm afraid!
