i think you can get +120 pistons but there not readily availble in this country, these take it to 1090? i think

1100 crank >_< = 1190

but you can get a 998 to 1245cc :D with 1100 crank and over boring

but David vizards tuning the a series engine will be best book to get ;)

but there's more than one way to get power gains from a 998 :dontgetit:

all i want is to get the most out of the 998 to make it a fast road

Are you looking to build this engine for every day use or is it going to be a weekend warrior?

As far as boring it out goes:
+.020 gives you 1014
+.040 gives you 1030
+.060 gives you 1046

Obviously be bigger you go the more power you'll get out of it. (In theory)
It's important not to forget that ported heads, lightened cranks and flywheels also make a huge difference to engine performance.

If you're serious about doing a high performance engine buy a copy of "Tuning the A Series Engine" by David Vizard. It's a fantastic resource as far as measurements and techniques go and holds lots of very useful advise.

Just remember insurance when tuning an engine please >_< as you can lose all the hard work you have done if you do not Tell the insurance company of modification

Would it be easier to take it out on a classic car policy or a specialised classic car insurance

Just for the record when you bore a 998/1098 block out for Hillman Imp pistons (1215 to 1251) you do offset the bores.

Is it sensible to put a straight cut box on for an everyday use as it will be noisy

you won't get the power out of the 998 to need a stright cut box on it :) plus there very noise

not worth the money as they don't do much on a standard engine
