Wouldnt it of been easier to put the VW engine in the Porsche 911 >_<

Kiddingggggggggggg great project Bean, very jealous!

:D

Nowhere near as fun!

Thanks, Alex - She is a bit ... past her best, but we'll get there!

She'll consist of:

Narrowed front beam
Air ride suspension
Porsche engine
5 Speed Gearbox
Porsche Brakes

Possibly thinking about tubbing her - so she can sit on the floor :-)

BRMs
3-bow roofrack OR 2 bow roofrack & full-length sunroof
Towel rail bumpers front and back

But I'm not telling you the colour/(s). ;D

I wanted to see if we could get to the original paint beneath, but by the time we replace the panels that we need to, there won't be much of it left - so figured we've go for a shiny-ish bus, rather than a ratty type!

I aim to get a vw camper in a couple of years and want it to look very ratty!!
Just trying to save at the moment, not going well, haha!

Good luck with the resto!

That is great! It brings back memories. I grew up in Puerto Rico with a few VW vans around me and they were so slow. My uncle had a 1964 and my dad had a 68 and 69. I learned to drive and taking the engines apart on those. When I moved to Florida, I bought a 73 with twin carbs and automatic transmission. When I rebuilt the engine on that one I put oversize pistons and cylinders and it was amazing how well it accelerated for a VW van. Obviously not as good as the one on the video!

They do teabag well. Spent a lot of time welding one of these beasties, floors, complete front panel, rear lower corners, door skins plus other odds and sods.

It wouldn't be a bus without rust.
