There's only like 5 weeks till next year dude, lol! Seriously though, you should get yourself a 16 v head, and spend some time modding it, my plans are to get another head, and a vvc inlet manifold, match the ports to the manifold and do a bit of work in the ports, as well as give a skim to get some more compression and a set of mildish cams, should give quite good results.

What sort of increase do you get with vvc cams? Got to be cheaper then piper cams, lol.

Most 1600 people seem to use them but from what I've heard, they're a two peice with different bearing size on the inlet cam so i'm not sure how difficult it is to fit into a 1.4 head, the exhaust cam can be made to fit but people tend to use 135 cams since they're pretty much the same profile and will drop straight in... after a remap you should see some kind of return, not sure which pullys I'd need for 135's though

Piper reckon their mild road cam adds 10 bhp, and that sounds a similar spec to what the vvc one sounds like.

Here's the link to piper cams, they've got some very nice sounding cams on there, lol.

270h would be cool but for the sake for 399 i could fit a vvc and have 160 brake out of the box i guess...

From what I just researched 160 cams won't work, lol, looks like my vvc engine won't be getting terrorised, lol.

I could do that, the lump I've got in my storage is from a zr 160, but I wouldn't be able to compete in the rallying I want to do. Cars engine has to remain "standard" and cannot be bigger than 1.4

I think they can work with modifications but to get any return for the money you're gonna spend then its not really worth it. I think I'll go for 135 cams from an MGTF since they fit straight into the 1.4 k16 head without modification :)

Can't really be bothered with updating this much lately but I have an R65 gearbox in the pipeline. Plus a 16v worked head with 135 cams. Also fitted MGF calipers with grooved and vented discs and green stuff pads, with 5mm spacers at the front

yeah man. hoping for 120 brake with the cams and a remap. That's 15 more than the standard 16v 1400

Not bad for a little lump. Astra is about 135 standard, so not a million miles off that!
