I think I'm with Kam on this. I'm a no likey this new FB style format.

Can we have a dislike button, please?

I'm afraid not.

Morning/Evening

I've not read through all the messages on this thread ( no patience ) so forgive me if asked already.

So is this new look etc. just a temporary thing until something is fixed?
I'm asumming so as it's a horrible look and not nearly as user friendly as the previous encarnation.
Apologies if the design is in-house, but it seems a step backwards.....not forward.
Thanks

The skin is temporary until I have time to create a skin for TMF specifically. Everying bar the banner at the top is completley standard.

Can you tell me what you don't like and why you think it's less user friendly? That way I can take your points in to account when I design the new skin. Simply saying "I don't like it." doesn't give me much to work with.

I think its a temporary thing, if you look at the top of the menu in Forum feedback etc there is a link called Forum Upgrade - keeping you in the loop

Click

Should explain it, but why it was changed now if its gonna be changed again shortly I don't know, I'll leave that to Mr Row :D

Just like people, this forum is more than skin deep. The new board software brings alot of things other than this new skin, a few of which are:
  • Mobile Skin - Something which users of TMF have wanted for a long time
  • Improved Security
  • Improved Performance
  • Proper Notifications System
  • The Like System - This will reduce the number of people posting to say things like "+1" when they agree with something
  • Reputation System - It's possible to see if someone who is giving you advice is trusted by others
That's not even mentioning the additional tools we have been provided with in the ACP to monitor and manage the forum. In addition to these features, the new software has given me a good base to work with when developing things for the forum.

Now you keep mentioning that it's like Facebook but you still haven't told me why.

Hi,
Will the board settings be enabled so that you can enable/disable signatures and the amount of posts you see in each thread, or is it already there?

Thanks Josh

Theres nothing wrong with changing/upgrading the forum, 99% of the stuff you just wrote I don't even know/use/understand, I like the way when you hover over a username it gives you info on them but I'm not on here for all the tech stuff behind the scenes only for mini info/tech/chat etc but anything that helps move it along smoother is always good, no ones doubting that

Now you keep mentioning that it's like Facebook but you still haven't told me why

Its got a facebook look, might just be the colours might be something else? god knows, all I know is it looks like its currently got a facebook vibe about it, I'm not the only one who sees it or thinks it looks like that

As I have pure hatred for that site I don't really want to see it making its way on here, but thats just me, currently it does so I'm glad this is only temporary as if this was staying then I wouldn't be

stop whinging, at least the search function now works well.

as does filtering out/through posts.

the only thing "facebooky" is the colour and the "like" button.

i found this, you can paste so long as you right click on the line your pasting in.
if the cursor is flashing and you right click anywhere else (a few lines down, or elsewhere on the page) it does bring up the paste option.

I'm slowy getting to grips with the updated site, as this is the first time I've been on since it was updated, except for a quick glance whilst on my phone. Which draws me to my next point, theres a mobile version which is better. I think I'll get used to it quickly, as I think most other people will too.

Hi,
Will the board settings be enabled so that you can enable/disable signatures and the amount of posts you see in each thread, or is it already there?

I'm afraid it looks like they opted to make those options global in the ACP rather than in each users settings. I will look in to it though.

Well the Mini info/tech/chat is all still here, that hasn't changed at all.

The only two things I can even remotely connect to Facebook are the colour and the Like button. The rest of it, even including the Like button is just Web 2.0, nothing to do with Facebook really.

i found searching for my own topics worse

although it could be because i haven't worked out how to use the new system yet :withstupid:

Click your name in the top right of the page, click My Content and filter the results by Topics only. Job done :).

is it just me or is anyone else having a copy and paste problem ?

You can invite people to a conversation now instead of creating a new one.

Alternatively if you really want a new conversation and to pass over the pictures, you need to copy the bbcode for the message. You can do that by clicking reply on the message you want to copy and then copying the quote from the reply window. You can paste that in to a new PM to whoever you like you might want to exclude the quote tags though.

Yeah all it was I was trying to send part of a PM to someone that I had already sent to someone else, but the part had only some of the text/pictures I wanted, before yeah I would reply then copy what I needed and send it off, but this was not playing ball like before, did it now using maggies method above
