Nice one, the race is back on haha!

I'll be having a few hours on mine after dropping the kids in school on Monday. Not going to put pics up because it'll look crap to some of the work you see on here

I'll try to get some new metal in if I can. Spend too much time thinking about it, just don't want to make a balls of it

I know what you mean. It's definitely better that way though. I think I'll be the same.

After hunting for an Autoplas rear window louvre for the past year or so I decided to put up some Wanted ads on some Facebook groups and on this forum. Well after being told "You'd better have a big bank balance" and "Good luck I've been looking for one for years" A very nice chap called Jason came forward who had one going spare. 100 miles later and I'd collected it.

Here it is in all it's glory  :mrcool:

I can't thank Jason enough, He wouldn't accept anything for it either. You can't beat Mini folk :-)

That's another piece collected that will play a big part in the finished article.

You can't beat a freebie mate. I got a pool ball gear knob off Mr Bounce off this forum. Proves there are good people out there

Well I finally built up the courage to set up my welder. It took me a while as I had no idea what I was doing. Also I've lost quite a bit of my gas due to one of the push fit pipes inside the welder not being connected properly. I found this after stripping down my brand new welder. Nice quality control SIP

Anyway here it is in all it's glory.

I had a go at doing a few welds. I was quite happy as they actually resembled welds of some sort but I seem to be getting too much penetration.

Anyway, here they are-

They look better than my first welds mate, I tried gasless and it was crap.

I lost some gas from a push fit connector I got off eBay, could hear it hissing. Half a roll of ptfe later jobs a guddun

Good luck, the race is back on

In a word, no.

Buying new double glazing and doors for our house has kind of got in the way but I hope to make a start again when the lighter nights are here.

I see you're still making steady progress though Jimmy. Keep up the good work.  :-)

Don't worry about that we all and I mean everybody had to start somewhere  :shy:  :highfive:

and keep learning every day. Good luck to you both.

Learning off you lot. Plenty of good builds on here for reference. And my nephew is a painter for VW so all is not lost haha

Well this must be one of the slowest Mini builds ever but I guess any progress is better than none. Having another child and getting married kind of called a halt to any Mini work.  Anyway after getting into some Mini builds on Youtube and getting back my enthusiasm, I've decided to do my best to reserve Saturday afternoons strictly for the Mini.

I've spent the last 2 Saturday afternoons in the garage, so it's going well so far.  ;-)

Most of the time has been spent creating space around the Mini but I've also managed to get the engine and subframe out and get the shell up in the air. My next plan is to sit it on a stack of pallets with some casters so I can move it about easily.

I had a snoop around under the wings. The inner wings don't look too bad to my untrained eye but the closing panels will need replacing.

I hope to take off the wings and front panel next time and check everything out properly.

One last thing. Does anyone know how to remove this please? I can't get it to budge.  :D
