i still need to lower the front a little, as its sitting too high, but once thats done, ill get my hands on an rc40, fit that, replace the floor pans up front, and thats it basically for a few years until the filler work around the front wings/front panel seams gives up, then he'll get a new front end and general bits and bobs and then a full respray in harvest gold ;)

been awhile since i updated this thread, after the auto engine decided it didnt want to play ball i took it off the road for a few months until i could be bothered to do something about it, that was until 2 weeks ago when i pulled the auto engine out, and discovered the front end was held together with alloy mesh, filler and fibreglass bridging filler... so off it came along with the scuttle, the a-apanels, and any other areas of rot and started replacing/fabricating my own repair panels out of flat sheet steel...

Has the engine died completelly? Does this mean a manual transplant is on the cards? Pitty about the front end. Who mends a car with wire mesh...its criminal!

yeah the front end was pretty bad, looked good until i removed the auto engine, front end is on and welded together, fits really nicely around the front, but where the wings join the a-panels theres an inch gap where the seams are ment to join, so im gonna have to extend the wings back to meet the a-panels! sods law ay! lol im putting a new scuttle on it too, but again, aftermarket panel the fit isnt brilliant, but once ive finished trimming it/fettling it, the panel gaps will look factory ;) gonna sort the passenger floor pan out too, got a crude patch welded in there and it looks a mess, so gonna cut it out and put some fresh metal in :)

yeah manual conversion is on the cards, got an 1100 engine off a mate, runs sweetly, prob drop a new clutch in it, oil seals, lick of paint etc im looking at completeing it fully within the next 3weeks!

another quick update, front end is mounted and welded behind the wings/front panel seam, but not fully welded to the car yet as the wings are about an inch to short! extended 1 so it meets up with the a-panel nicely. few pics to show progress ;)

the silver paint dribbling between the wing and front panel is zinc primer, really sprayed it in heavy between the joint, might even lead load them, always fancied having a go at lead loading!

finshed extending the front wings today, you gotta love after market panels! also knocked up a scuttle closing panel for the passenger side and welded that in (still need to dress the welds down a little for a neat finish) also prep'd the scuttle for welding in, stone chipped the top of the bulk head and under the new scuttle panel so its all clean and tidy ready for when i weld the scuttle in (i didnt stone chip the edges that are to be welded, masked them off and painted with several coats of zinc primer) the front end was on and off at least 10 times while i fettled the scuttle/closing panels/extending the wings etc so when it comes to welding the lot together, the gaps will be spot on! :D really enjoying this build, but saying that, every build i enjoy! lol more updates and pictures tomorrow!
