So i finally got a new project, and at a good price from a friend who needed rid of it. Some pics below, but its a vauxhall conversion using the allspeed kit, with a Mk2 cavalier SRi 130 engine.

I only just got used to the carb engine in my last mini, so this is a whole new challenge! The car came loaded with stuff. All speed billett driveshafts, CV joints and all the bottom arms/tie bars, all the engine bits, MPi tank, 3 rads (!), Hi-Los, GAZ dampers, Wilwood 4 pot alloy calipers, standard 8.4 mini brake set up, Vented discs.

It needs a new rear valance and repairs to the boot floor, and the rear subby needs an overhaul, but then its onto getting the engine running.

Oh, and if anyone has any Inner CV's i'd be very interested......

Looks like that will keep you busy for a while yet!

What is your plan for it? Get it back on the road and then think about playing around with it?

Hi mate, yeah thats the plan, although it needs a bit more than i thought. I've already done the boot floor, hinge panel and repairs around the light apertures, thats the shell done. Rear subframe needs dropping and sorting out, then its on to the really hard stuff!

Wiring is where i'll probably lose my mind..........

Looks like the project has a lot of momentum already. Don't think the wiring will be too bad, I think those Vauxhall engines aren't too packed with electronics. I don't mind giving you a hand with the wiring if you end up confused with it all!

Yeah not too bad at all, with the exception of the rear hinge panel and boot floor, its mostly cosmetic.

Gosh i'm going crazy with the wiring... the harness is fitted up to the engine, but i cant for the life of me get to the bottom of which wires go to the coil, starter and ignition.

I'm supposed to have a small 2 pin connector with a red and black wire for the switched/live, but i've got one with a black and green! I cant find where the coil connects or where the starter goes. Can anyone help?

Looks a nice project - cool colour too!

What colour is it by the way? I hope you're keeping it.

I've no idea what colour it is, but if i can get hold of the paint code, or have some mixed then yeah i'll keep it. I'd like it to look as close to standard as possible. If i cant get the paint then its going boring old black.

Have you got your head around the wiring yet Rich? I could pop round if you want a second opinion. I have an old Cavalier haynes manual that I have acquired during the course of messing about with cars!
