Been fettling with the doorstep and rear quarter panel this weekend, With it being a magnum doorstep as you can imagine did not fit! so i sharpened all the folds to begin with.

The curved ends of the doorstep were not even close to fitting so I cut the front to give me the correct shape and just needs a small filler section to close the gap.

The back of the doorstep was so bad i decided to cut the full back off and use an original section from my little panel donor.

All of the rust was cleaned off and I cut out all of the rot and welded a new piece in onto the first edge

Not far off welding it all up now. Got to trial fit the door, get all the seams zinc primed, paint the inaccessible parts in 2k body colour and they can be welded.

:highfive:

Now engine wise, I have fully stripped the engine, the crank will be getting a re grind to remove the minor marks, new mains and big end bearings, oil pump etc etc, the bores and pistons are in really really good condition so will be checking the ring gaps prior to rebuilding to be sure everything is ok. I am still trying to decide on a diff ratio. Currently has the standard 3.44, but i want the revs down a bit at higher speeds. Its a mg metro 1275 so even changing the diff to say 3.1 i will have enough torque but should still have enough acceleration for what i want.
