Yeah I know to this I would never let them on my propertyNo matter how friendly or helpful never invite a 'scrap metal collector' onto your property or into your garage where he can see what you have (he may 'case the joint' and tell all his mates or come back when you are not around to help himself)............always take the scrap out to him in the road or tell him to call back later when you can put it out on the edge of your property.

Sounds like a good idea but id rather not have anything to do with them ..... Thieving b*stardsthey come to our garage all the time:) funny lot they are, i dont know how they can make a living ( or what they can call a livnig) but we find if theyre well fed with scrap motors and rusty body panels ( we do restos) they tend not to bother us.

but simply park this fake cop car next to the mini. It might just put them off. Even better if you can move the fake cop car every now and again to make it look more realistic. If the car was just sat and never moved it would run the risk of people sussing it out as a fake. Just turn it around to face in the opposite direction and park it in different positions around the mini.

I think that might be a bit extreme. And i know the pikeys arnt exactly scientists but there not baboons ( All though very close to it ) so i think they would work out that its not realGo on ebay, Buy yourself a cheap non running white Astra of Vectra and get some cop car style graphics made up (obviously dont ever drive the car on the road and pretend to be a cop)

Couple of months ago I had a traveller knocking on my door asking if the 'radiator' left in my drive was scrap or not, I was a bit confused at 1st but turned out it was the engine cover for my camper van that I'd accidentally left out after changing the alternator belt. Would have been very easy for him to take it without anyone batting an eyelid, yet despite what threads like this would have you believe he didn't.
Of course there's plenty thieving scum in the traveller community, just like there is in all communities, but to say ALL gypsies are on the rob is a gross assumption and just plain *******.
lol they were most probally seeing if you were in, before they stole it
