Not sure if this was solved as i skipped 2 pages, but park something infront of it, i know its impratical, but see if you can beg borrow or steal somone elses car for a few days so they cant get to it, they'll get bored and find something else to steal.

or maybe they will take both cars instead............

We had pikeys roll up at our work & steal three 70mm cable drums right in the middle of the day with 15ft security fences & 20 odd cameras & security guards! They are a ballsy lot & if they want it they will get it somehow or other.

Best thing to do is if they turn up again make sure they see you taking pictures of them & their vans reg. If they come to confront you go inside (with your dog barking) & call the police straight away & tell them whats happening.

Contact your closest mini club or any other car clubs in the area & ask them if anyone they know has some spare temporary space for the shell. You never know there may be someone who lives close to you with a farm shed with enough room.

Bloody pickies. Those are not gypsies- just pickes by the way
NEVER EVER let them see what you have in your garage, NEVER give them any piece of metal, or they'll come back very soon..

Really, report it to the police, i no its a waste of time but do it, and chain the dog to the car at night..

My brother was away for the weekend - he has a nice caravan (chained to the ground)
Caught them in the act - reversing a car down his drive
they had a High sided HGV blocking the view & bolt croppers to cut the chain's on the caravan

can't say what happened next
but they didn't get the caravan

they can be very superstitious, and easily spooked. had a friend see some off after some building work ( not wanting to stereotype but it was the drive ) done by them. never finished and demanded full payment, went on for a week or two, and even came back for there tools, mate got rid of them by putting a fox scull inside a chalk drawn 5 pointed star and put their tools in it . they pulled up took one look and drove off. never came back.

Go on ebay, Buy yourself a cheap non running white Astra of Vectra and get some cop car style graphics made up (obviously dont ever drive the car on the road and pretend to be a cop)

but simply park this fake cop car next to the mini. It might just put them off. Even better if you can move the fake cop car every now and again to make it look more realistic. If the car was just sat and never moved it would run the risk of people sussing it out as a fake. Just turn it around to face in the opposite direction and park it in different positions around the mini.

I think that might be a bit extreme. And i know the pikeys arnt exactly scientists but there not baboons ( All though very close to it ) so i think they would work out that its not real

If you say so. I non taxed and MOT'ed dis'ASTRA in white can go for as little as a few hundred quid, cheaper than some alarm systems.

Im not saying its the be all and end all of how to solve the problem but every little helps. Its just another deterrent.

Why cant there be a cop living there who parks the squad car there when there off duty? Its not out of the norm at all, Like I said if it runs and you can move it once a week so it looks like its in use then it should be rather effective. You will never make your possessions unstealable but what is effective is making yourself seem less of a target and someone else as more of a target. Why steal from you if your got a cop living there if someone else down the road is an easier target. Its not nice, but the most effective form of security unfortunately is making yourself look less appealing than someone else.

I've known people to spend thousands of pounds on a security system for their motor with GPS only to be trumphed by a £40 GPS blocker. The thieves are cunning and their technology is also getting better.

I dont think its extream at all, its called thinking outside the box.

At first I was, but to be honest, its as good an idea as any.

i dont think the coppers get to take the cars on with them.

Some do some dont. Ive seen them parked up over night regularly once or twice. Think it depends on your job role and rank, and I think you may be over thinking it slightly!
