So a long overdue update - Part 1. Starting from the last update in june 2023
I had a problem with ripping off the chrome side trim, Lost the rear half going to Gaydon motor museum the year before and I think it come off in the above photo. The trim is a pain to fit so come up with the idea of pre forming it on a sill and rear 1/4 and leaving it in the sun, which worked a treat and fitted them easily. I also decided they needed fixing, I didn't want to use a rivet as they don't look that good. so machined these up, drilled a hole through the trim and arch lips, pushed them through and clamped up with a little screw. and so far I haven't had one come off since. - 25th June 2023
Went to a few local shows
And up to Rollhard at Bicester (and Gloucester steam rally the day before which was very wet) - 6th August 2023
I could never read the dip stick very well, so made a program and machine the dipstick which makes it a lot clearer if I have enough oil - 14th August 2023
In between here I was offered a Mini Marcos, With 3 other projects and this I just had to much on, So I bought it anyway February 2024 - Threads here https://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/360186-mini-marcos-mk5-1994-28-years-off-the-road/
The engine then came out, this was due to a leaking pot joint cover, I tried sorting it while in the car but didn't work, out it came stuff checked and put it back in. all was well for a while but it started leaking again.- February 2024 - More on this in the next update.
Took it to riviera run
Got a disposable camera off my neighbour, it ran out of date in 2002!
It then developed a rattle, I though it was the clutch release bearing but would turn out to be the idler gear (in the next update). Luckily the engine could stay in and sorted a few things while I was there. I was glad I cut the bottom bolt hole into a slot so I didn't have to unwind the bolt fully.
and got out and drove it!
That brings us up to the end of 2024, I'm sure I missed a few things out.
