no ones arguing. i for one, am just not daft enough or rich enough to fall into the clutches of Apples marketing strategy.

i do own an ipod touch, and have owned an ipod from its very original click wheel birth.

however i wont upgrade every 5months just because theres something new, i live by if it aint broke...

people will hate wont they.......

they are expensive agreed.....to an extent i guess but they hold there value better than any other phone because they are a luxury.

the way i look at it is this. a new ipod touch that i was going to buy is about 270 i think. a very decent "mobile" camera and HD V recorder AND a phone and a very fluid OS all in one device its a bargin!

take this http://www.play.com/...{BlackBerry}%2b

that's £489 for the phone. i use a blackberry now and have been a user for a long time and had a 3gs too and thats not really a great phone personally if you compare it to the apple and the 16gb is only £11 more!

http://www.gsmarena....2&idPhone2=3116

ok processor is 1.2 ghz over apples underclocked A5 at 700 mhz but apples os doesnt need it its fluid and works, blackberry is ok at best. big numbers in some cases dont mean better.

camera, storage, apps, music (syncing with itunes)

i'll let you do the rest. i know you peeps will think i love apple but i wriite this now on a windows machine and no i dont own an ipad lol

yes some of you say "do you really need this" well do you need your house or would a tent and 10 jumpers be enough for you to live to keep warm this time of year.(and more but you get my point without being to pedantic)....you could go stupid with those type of un thought through comments. some people buy taste the difference others basics. they earn it let em spend it :)

Did you know Microsoft help out Apple and Apple help out Microsoft and the "Rivalry" is just a rumour :P

Then why did some guy found with his apple iphone working in the Microsoft office have it confiscated?

I have a 4 for work and a 3GS for my personal phone and was going to upgrade the latter to the new model. Having updated to iOS 5 on both devices, I'm not sure I really want or need to upgrade the hardware. My contract has finished so the options are there.

Despite the various misgivings of Apple's marketing, it's their product longevity that appeals to me. Having a company that can both set trends with new products and retain customers with long term product life and support is a good position to be in.

Went to my local o2 shop to upgrade, they'd sold out, I was suprised that o2 had only sent them out 56 units!! Of course they were gonna sell out, but what happens tomorrow when people go in to buy them? And the next day? Looks like I'll be making a trip into Nottingham this afternoon. Bleh!

There will be a nice waiting list. Apple always do that, never quite send out enough demand. It does mean those people that can grab them can sell them for more on Ebay though.

I have a 4, but I'll probably upgrade to the 4S. I'll probably get a fair bit for the 4 on Ebay so it wont cost that much. I have to say, I can't wait to use the Siri function. My brother has the new one on order, due 21st I think.

Hopefully my Macbook Air should arrive soon as well!

I love Apple stuff. There are many threads on here about the pros and cons so I'm not going through it all again. Great products though.

I thnk my favourite phones ever were the Nokia 8210 and 8310. I would buy one of those and use an iPod touch, but for the internet on the go. Its actually quite a nice thing to have.

Haha, My first phone was a Nokia 8210. Such a cool phone, lol. I can't remember what happened to it :( but I remember swapping a proper funky changeable cover I had for it for a beyblade. Then I had a Siemens sl55, blatantly the coolest phone ever :gimme:

My first phone was a Motorola M3788. That was a big old brick. If the battey went dead, the manual said you could put 4 AA batteries in it! The battery 'pack' itself felt like it was 4 AAs stuck together.

My first phone was the Coca-Cola phone

I think I drank 60 cans of coke and then paid £40 for it. But it was well worth it because it's default ring tone was the 'Always Coca-Cola' jingle. My phone now isn't much better.

It didn't have a calendar so wouldn't know whether it was christmas!!!
However if you unscrewed the antenna you could use it as a weapon as it was the sharpest thing in the world!

Any body remember the philips C15, you switched it off instead of ending a call and it never credited your account so the bill was always free. They were withdrawn and simcards wouldn't work in existing cards once this was realised :(
