you can either buy a set of hilos to replace the original trumpets, or u can cut the original trumpets.

If you've removed 3" from the trumpets you'll now have to replace them. Theres a certain raito to cutting down the trumpets, and it depends on whether its at the front or rear. Off the top of my head its something like 3:1 at the front and 5:1 at the back (double check this though), ie. for every 1mm you cut off the trumpet, it'll lower the ride height by 3mm at the front or 5mm at the back. So your 3" you've cut off will lower the ride height at the back by 15"!!!

what do you mean by "had a play", how did you make them longer after cutting them up?

i have got the longer bit of the trumpet and hammerd a bit of round solid steel (about 4inch long) into it. got the cut of bit and cut that down a inch then hammerd that over the steel bit then put the round bit in the end.

No No No No. That is far from safe. Go to a scrapyard and get a new pair for less than £5 !!!!!

You really shouldn't even think about putting them back on your car, they may not move now, but think how much load is on them when installed. not a good idea.
