Not really mate. There are cars out there other than minis and I'd rather have one of them. You really thing I'd catch a bus??? That was a metaphor. I'm getting a brand new Golf off the court tomorrow. At least I know I'll have it for more than a fortnight.

Peace be with you all anyway and be safe

When I said that I will never buy private again, what I meant to say was I will never buy a mini again... from anyone.

I have loved minis for as long as I remember, but now my veiw on minis is they are money guzzling death traps that belong in scrapyards or banger racing.

Point me to the bus stop please!

Sorry

what sort of low life scum sell people cars like this when they know full well that they are deathtraps! not good.

but, its a bit harsh saying they belong in a scrappy? i mean i totally agree they are money guzzling ( 100 %) death traps? again, no theyre not, well apart from a head on. and banger racing mini's is just plain cruel.

Yeah soz, had a few jars tonight and feeling bitter. But I'll never get one again.

He Knew mate. Someone who sells a car having just bought it themselves is never a good sign. Not saying that is always the case though.

Speedo being out 10mph is fairly common and could be down to tyre choice. Not defending the other stuff though

I had this on my mini just had to change the speedo drive pinion,

But the other stuff is shocking!! Infact it's just plain dangerous and needs reporting for selling things that arnt fit for purpose!!!

Now I'm all for free speech, but if that's your opinion of the very car that this site is dedicated to & that is frequented by its fan base, then may I suggest that you take your opinions elsewhere and to a place where they may be more welcomed.

You may well have had a bad experience, but your comments here about the classic mini are both inflammatory and completely unnecessary. If you are that much out of favour with the classic mini, then may I suggest that you rid yourself of your "money guzzling death trap" by returning it to the allegedly unscrupulous seller form whom you purchased it from, or by selling it onto one of us that might be more appreciative of it.

F*cking Pikeys!!!

This is also a family forum, so your choice of language is certainly less than appropriate. (regardless of your oh so clever placement of the asterisk.)

So from my point of view it would be appreciated if you were to either apologise and refrain, or to close the door on your way out.

Thank You

If you read my post 3 above yours, you will see that I did.

I'll say it again...

I'M SORRY

oh and incidentally, 60mph on the motorway with no steering dosn't make your car look pretty, so no, I can't sell it on. And I'm no see you next Tuesday, so would never try to sell a car like that to anyone. Sam Cole may have gained £1400 but that's the price he put on a fellow human beings life. That's what I wanted people to know.

That was the first thing I did mate and I'm not a troll. I've done what I can to get hold of the guy. I'm more likely to see Elvis than him again. F*cking Pikeys!!!

I apologise for these remarks. I had had a few bevvies last night and felt increasingly bitter and hateful throughout the evening.

I don't hate minis. I have loved them for as long as I can remember and I will love them until I turn my toes up to the dasies, but I will never buy, drive or get in one again. It's like a divorce; I still love them but will never go there again.

If that offends you then I apologise once more. Difference of opinion.

Thanks for your apologies ^^^

You have still failed to mention whether or not you have contacted the seller and if so what their response has been. Your case may well be genuine and in which case you may have every right to be angry, but without explaining the sellers response to your allegations then your continued "name & shame" action could easily be viewed as suspicious and even a possible fabricated attempt at destroying a competitors reputation. A number of members here are traders themselves and it's therefore widely accepted on this forum that you should give a trader the chance to put a problem right before publicly "bad mouthing" them.

.....and of course you can sell it on, so long as you are honest about it's faults and are clear that it is being sold for "spares or repair" purposes only and that it is not currently in a roadworthy condition. This would of course result in a much lower sale price than you yourself paid, which is partly why so many people have suggested that you take the matter up with the seller in the first instance. As has already been explained, you have purchased through a trader therefore you do have a number of statutory consumer rights under the sale of goods act.

If you are really that concerned about the threat to public safety that this trader poses, then I would also suggest that your efforts would probably be better spent reporting them to your local trading standards department. Your warning will only ever have a limited effect here any way, owing to the fact that most users of this forum are already mini owners and are therefore not actually that likely to be buying a classic mini especially through a trader in a specific part of the country.

My first question is how did you find the car in the first place? Ebay? paper?
Also where did you meet him to view the car? Was it at his house/business? or did you meet him in a neutral place (like a shopping center car park)?

If you have his name then you could check the phone book for an address, or maybe trace it through his phone number (assuming you have a number for him?)

EDIT:

A quick search turned up 6 S.Cole's in Southampton & only 1 in Totton. You could go to his house & demand some answers.

AVV IT... Where can I start? Have you not been following the posts?

I have tried to get back in contact with the seller with no results, as mentioned before. The address is now empty, landline is cut off, mobile number no longer in use. The garage claim that the car was not mot'd there as, and I quote, "they are a van centre". Although the certificate has their address on it and signed by one of their employees. I know Josh Stone definitely works there as I called back after the "van centre" call, asked for him name, was asked to hold and the following response was "Hello, Josh Stone speaking, how can I help"

Also as mentioned before, I now know that I will never get the money back, but in regards to the MOT centre, they have been reported to VOSA and both parties have now been named and shamed for all to see. This post was meant for reference, not discussion.

Anyway, enjoy discussing this amongst yourselves. I'm off to my local V-DUB dealership. At least I'll be comfy, both physically and mentally, when I drive now.

PEACE OUT AND BE SAFE!!! x

Its the same whatever car you buy, old or new. My wife has a Passat, we have had golfs, type 2's etc etc and I love VW's BUT a colleague of mine bought a BRAND NEW Beetle and had months and months of hassle with it before eventually being offered a Polo as an exchange. What do you think the dealer did with a '1 owner low mileage Beetle'? Thats right - it was out on the forecourt next day and no doubt hassle for someone else.

Moral of the story - check out the car thouroughly however new, old, cheap, expensive, shiny, rusty it may be. If you don't know how then ask a friend or ask on a forum, or even pay the RAC or similar to check. As a simple rule of thumb if it takes you less than an hour to check over a potential purchase you are not doing it right. But there is no replacement for experience, I am sure half the people on here could have saved you hassle by spotting one or more of the faults you mentioned. I don't know the seller so can't speak from them but I recently bought a mini from a retired lady which had done 2 miles since the MOT. I found massive holes in the inner sills and other issues but don't think for a second that the lady knew about them, so sometimes its wise to think about what the other persons knowldege is before apportioning blame. I found the problems BEFORE purchase and was happy at the price that the faults weren't enough to put me off. There were dodgy issues with the MOT but I can't mention them as the garage are under investigation at the moment. But I knew what I was letting myself in for as I had checked what needed to be checked. Even then its possible to get caught out so its a luck thing as well to some extent.

Good luck with the next purchase and drive safe.
