Minis are slowly dying out in the sport, and im sure someone'll argue its down to us killing them all....

I was at the autograss final earlier on this year, Mini's are very much still well represented in the sport.

yes and i gave my opinion and what makes people say i haven't raced and don't suport a friend racing in time attack and irish touring that started off in autograss... i'm not making assumptions like some of the above, i'm going on personal experience ;D .... i know what goes into these cars and there's not a chance i'd stick 1 on the grass track.
giner88 says it costs less to restore a mini for grass track but yet is300 can name at least 10 who use heritage panels and shotblast the shell??.... sounds like it costs just as much if not more in some cases to me so who's talkin poo

i say there's enough young lads lookin for a mini to restore for the road so my opinion is leave these cars to them ;D ... opinions were only asked for mini's in autograss not breaking mini's or any other form of racing so my opinion was givin >_<

so your saying it cost more to make an autograss, then a shiny road car? are you out of your mind, so what if you know 10 people who use 'heritage panels and shotblast the shell??' for every 10 autograss minis like that there is a 100 that are not. and if your going to restore a road car your going to do there things anyway PLUS much much more? so if you think it cost more to make an autograss than a nice road car fine. but i think it is you sir who is full of poo :proud:

i was talking about restoring the body and nothing else and read my post right dude, i didn't say i knew 10 people.... how many people break a mini only to restore the body and race it, so where's your logic??
yep i'm full of poo

here's 1 of the cars i had in my day, bought as a ministox but converted by me to autograss, i minded it and it later went to a friend who restored it to reasonable condition... in the meantime i killed a k10 micra which was due to some plonker that didn't care less about his car

Dude, a class 1 mini engine can cost up of £3k, the shells are 'specially' prepared. You could spend £6k on a class one and still not win. To do properly its expensive work.

what about when minis in scrappers become impossible to source? its already increasingly difficult to find one in a scrapper these days.

where will racing minis come from?

Racing is one of many ways to enjoy a mini though! Yeah alright it might be killed off but what a way for it to go! In my opinion it's much better than people who never drive them and trailer them from event to event. It might last forever but it's a CAR. By definition it should be driven!!!

(not downing trailer queens, just saying I would rather see one racing than unused!)
