As an individual member I agree, however looking at the bigger picture, which in effect moderators do tells a very different story

Not everyone was in agreement with this decission, several options were looked at and discussed by those who were available

i think the list of moderators needs reviewing by all tmf members anyway. and before anyone says it, i do appreciate the time it takes and all that, as im a mod on another car forum.

Sam by all means log off, take a breather and come back.

You are on some sort of RAGE kill.

You dont seem to think how your affecting the rest of this forum by the way your acting, Attack modders is really not wise. Its like slapping a bull terrier with your balls. He's gunna bit them off.

We hear your voice, we all have opinions. Just pm the moderators with your OPINION and have done. I am sure you will have most of the TMF community voicing there opinions to and it will be sorted, but the past month or so i will agree this forum has got out of hands and i am not pointing the blame or suggesting its just you sam.
We all get annoyed and heated and want to voice our opinions but its just that time you need to step back and cool down.

And if you can understand that you will do so and wont reply with some SARCASTIC, or horrible reply to me.

Okay?

The only thing getting worse about TMF are all the nonsense posts / topics people need to sift through.

dont mind the occasional thread of just general chat and banter, what i am sick of is reading threads like this.

all everyone seems to do is ******* like little girls about how the mods shut down a thread.

shut this thread down, waste of spaceeeeee

9 years ago i put my hard earned cash into building a place where other people who also have and love minis can get together and talk about their cars, projects and ask and support each other in looking after or working on their classic minis.
Some people do say the forum is going downhill. if this is the case I’m always open to ideas, but i might add the only issues or complaints we get are mainly nothing to do with minis at all, which i ask myself is this what i started the forum up for.

I don’t read all the dribble on the forum myself and if i had my way i would remove the lot and take it right back to MINIs hence why i come on here to read about minis and what other members are doing with there minis. after all isn’t that why you joined the forum yourself?

If i wanted to read about (example) Jeremy Kyle i would go to a Jeremy Kyle forum : http://www.jeremykyleshow.co.uk/
Now does my team closing theses types of posts really give the MINI forum a bad name?

If i was a new member, just bought a mini, not very good on computers but can get by. If i went onto a Mini Forum website in the hope to read about Classic Minis would i expect top pick through loads of dribble about other stuff which has nothing to do with minis? the answer would be no.

I’m all for people having a laugh and enjoying the forum but really what does (example) Jeremy Kyle got to do with Minis. nothing. So why should i host it on my Mini forum?
Mybe the silly chat section should be removed? food for thought.

If you feel the need please use sites like this which are there for this type of chat. http://www.generalchat.co.uk/
Sorry if i have upset anyone by reminding them at this forum is running for Classic car enthusiasts.

Just note guys this is my personal thoughts and not of the team.

I enjoyed reading this, for a relative noobie it was good to hear the point of view of one of the founders.

Before I joined this forum I looked at a few other mini forums and this one stood out for all the right reasons. I liked the fact posts were'nt littered with foul language and text talk. The people on here are friendly and knowledgeable, its an absolute credit to you.

''If i was a new member, just bought a mini, not very good on computers but can get by. If i went onto a Mini Forum website in the hope to read about Classic Minis would i expect top pick through loads of dribble about other stuff which has nothing to do with minis? the answer would be no''....I think this is a fair point isn't there a way of seperating the Off Topic Banter and General Chat so that it doesnt come up unless chosen as an option?

Ive already posted my opinion of the importance of such threads:-

''Mrs Max loves the shows more than me and it gives her a day out and by knowing a few people from TMF she doesnt worry as much because she knows theres people there at the shows that would maybe help her if she had any problems with the car

What maybe a few of the mods need to realise is that the OTB sections are still doing a job, they are getting the less technically minded on here to chat, make friends, fit in, and talk to other mini nuts.

That shouldnt be underestimated, Mrs Max wouldnt of travelled over 3hrs for the Stanford Hall show without it''

Its a great site
I read to learn, follow build threads, use the search engine to check up on things and love seeing other peoples minis....... but without the 'silly chat' I may as well just use google

Mark has made some very good points. However I beleive there is more to this than meets the eye. There have been comments that suggest a "them and us" attitude with regards admin/mods and users. I suggest that, with the obvious exception of the founders and IT specialists, all admin/mods should be rotated on a two year basis. This wpould have the benefit of introducing "new blood" into the forum as well as giving those outgoing a well deserved rest for atleast two years. Each admin/mod was probably appointed on different dates so that only one would be replaced at a time giving the existing team time to give a little training to the new appointees.

Obviously Mark and Nick have the final say, it is their forum, but staff elected by the members would revitalise TMF.
