yes we are all risks on the road but what we do for a living does'nt make us less of a liability than another... should'nt we all be treated as equals regardless of financial status..race and background grrrrrr
According to statistical data yes it does. As others have pointed out, people who work in certain industries are statistically more likely to claim than others. They are therefore considered a bigger risk and have to pay larger premiums accordingly. It really is as simple as that, there is no prejudice or discrimination intended. Insurance companies do not care why people in certain industries make more claims than others, they just care that they do make more claims.
The other issue is that people in certain professions are at significantly higher risk of criminal damage to their vehicles than others. For instance if the nature of your work has the potential to make you unpopular and therefore at risk of retribution attacks on your vehicle, then your premium will get hiked accordingly. Insurance for Journalists and ballifs tends to be affected in this way.
