If you repair it to a pristine standard you could always have to an IVA (if that's what it's called for a fresh build) and get a Q plate?

Could be a good oppertunity to build something absolutely lethal, V8 in the load area? :P

Actually wouldn't that be a 1982 van? And if it is it would be a "last year" van so has a little historical significance in the scheme of things. More so then my 1980 van.. and the only reason your vin would not be here...

(right in the center of the scuttle)

is if they replaced the scuttle at some time in it's life, you may need to wirebrush the gully somewhat to find it, perhaps even down to bare metal if the paint is thick. Oh and pull out the weatherstrip stuck there it will likely to be over it if it's in there.

It should start either with one of these depending on the engine if it is an 82 (or October 1980 - 1982)

SAXLV1####### is a 998cc
SAXKV1####### is a 848cc

normally if its original scuttle and it was stamped from new, you can feel the stamp from the underside. its usually a criss cross shape from my experience, will give some indication if theres a number under the paint.

Eh? ....Sorry how is a DeLorean French?? (with it being a built in Northern Ireland by a Texan bloke for the US market??)

.... Or am I being particularly thick here and am missing some sort of hidden irony that has clearly gone way over my head!! >_<

AVV IT, I think he was referring to the old Renault (21 I think...) that's had the impressive engine transplant in Jordie's post before ;D Although, isn't the engine in a DeLorean from a Peugeot/Renault/Volvo? :teehee:
