haha, i was watching one wheeler dealer show about a mini that they were doing (i think that it was the one with the green mk1)

The programs a joke, that was the episode where they cut the passenger side, A Panel's in half and only replaced the bottom section............... Cowboy's

You mean A FRAME hahaha, I agree, it's not a great programme for fact or advice but it's good fun.

I think you've gotta watch it with a pinch of salt, like top gear.

At the end of the day it's an entertainment programme and if it was geared towards total car enthusiasts and detailed it down to the last torque setting, it wouldn't be watchable my the masses and it'd fail. It's obviously 99% scripted but at the end of the day it's just a TV show to kill some time in between repairing your own car/bike :P

Ed is brilliant. He is actually a really cleaver bloke, an engineer of some sort. He has been involved in loads of stuff, like the topgear ep where they race the German TopGear people with double decker cars. He designed them.

As for the shoddy bodge jobs, I dont think it is something that Ed likes doing, but they have a budget and stick to it - so corners have to be cut.

I watched the two mini eps of the program an hour ago, and cringed when I watched the MK1 ep. Total respray, drops bonnet closed. Ep with mini city, both of them sling the doors open.

The A Frames comment made me crease up though haha, Poor minis though :(

The good thing about the show is that it installs confidence and inspiration in young novice home mechanics, Both Edd and Mike will agree that this is what the show is about. A lot more actually happens to the cars behind the scenes but you only really see about 20 minutes of it on film. I do agree that the "A frame" repair could have been better!

When I watch the show I don't see it as a restoration show like others out there, I see it more as finding something that can be made into a roadworthy ride with skill you can use in your own garage. More of a fixer upper type show. At times it does come across a lil sleazy, but when you see how much they put in and make off a sale, it's not much.

Also as stated earlier, having worked in the entertainment industry, the show has to sell a product. You don't see all the work and details behind the scenes. The best footage is kept and the story is built from their. If it wasn't entertaining, no one would watch, so it gets hyped, cut and altered from the real situation. It's kinda like them lame Ghost hunt shows. I know many of the people on them shows stateside. 90% is crap or stolen ideas from other ghosthunter sites and the rest is bad acting.

Wheeler dealers is a load of sh!te, much like a lot of car forums, people watch it, and take what they see as gospel, then think they know EVERYTHING about cars. Gives me violent urges.

It always amazes me when they put a car back on the road and when you see it driving it's obvious it needs new dampers (remember the 911?).
Still, that's entertainment.
I can remember when Top Gear was a programme about cars and driving, now it's just a comedy show used to make the presenters more famous and thus better paid.
