i was there at mini 50 when they auctioned this off. before hand he came in explaining everything about the car and he seemed completely clueless. then asked everyone who would be bidding to go and stand close to each other so it was easier to film.

then at the end got them to do another take on how much they bid on it and got the numbers all wrong and mixed up. and added loads more to make it look like there was a bidding was going on

haha, i was watching one wheeler dealer show about a mini that they were doing (i think that it was the one with the green mk1) and when he was looking for a mini he spotted a mini rose in the paper and he said "the mini rose is a bit girly because its pink"......and i thought haha....wrong again mike, the roof of a mini rose is pink....not the whole car!!

but to be fair, mike is a car trader, and he doesent know an awful lot about cars, he just knows what a particular car is worth, he isnt a fan of any car really and he doesent care what it is as long as it makes him a profit!

i work at a car dealership and my boss bought a fiesta ST, it wasnt until i told him that it was a fiesta ST500 which are rare, he didnt have a clue....lol, car dealers just buy and sell cars, they are not car enthusiasts.....well not many of them are anyway.

he probably cant tell the difference, lol, mike doesent have a clue about classic mini's, he has proved that on several occasions, in one of his programmes
"deals on wheels" he was poking around at the sill of a mini and said that the subframe was bolted to it!!.......bless.............lol.

he dosn't know much about any cars! Ed is ok, looked a little bit lost when he started the radius arm change, but still did a top job to be fair.

Think edd is more of a VW fan. The mk1 mini (green) was just filled with filler though :(

ed is a total VW fan, you can see his enthusiasm a lot more when he is working on the beetles/type 25's and the other crap that mike has thrown at him.

It's fantastic the way the TV production companies edit the footage to make the 'story.
A few years ago my family and I were featured in one of the 'Car Booty' programmes when we were raising cash for my Grandson's first restoration, a 1986 Mini Mayfair. Some of you may have seen it.
The sequence of filming was all shown in a different order from that in which it took place ans some of what we did and said was scripted in a sort-of loose way.
However, it was all really good fun.

I ve sat through nearly all the weeler dealer programmes.

If its mechanical, i agree ed china seems to know what he's doing. But when it comes to body work he's terrible. The first mk1 they did, he remarks about the 'improperly mixed' filler in the door. Instead of putting it right properly by re skinning the door, he puts some 'proper' filler in.

I think i remember him rattle canning bits of a ferrari??? And that little fat guy.... i think he just reads a script.

When i saw these things i never took the show seriously again.

He rattled canned a full rear quarter of a Porsche 924, series 1 episode 1. The Ferrari, he painted the underside plastic skid plate black again because it was scuffed
