Minimadjonesy in a rare horizontal moment fixing Huey's exhaust back on. It was ripped off at the bottom of the y-piece by a metal ramp at the entrance to a fuel station at Newquay on the Riv Run some years back. Blare, bellow, snort and rumble are words that spring to mind. The car was pretty noisy too.
PS Neil and other SMAC members helped with the repairs as well. It pays to get the strength of a mini club around you :shifty:

Me and Dad were driving up a hill one night, well Dad was, then all of a sudden the Pug sounded like a tractor and underneath us we heard a tap tap tap where the exhaust was bumping along the road. We had no phone and nothing to hold the exhaust up. Luckily it wasnt to far from home so I had to walk home in the pitch black, so mum could take me back to the pug and for me to hang the exhaust up with some wire(in the rain) to drive home. Fun times

I flew past a transit in Germany at about 90 MPH only for them to over take me immediately afterwards, franticly flapping their hands and pointing to the rear of my mini!

I pulled over onto the hard shoulder, and found the exhaust had come of the rear hanger. The exhaust was probably bouncing around throwing sparks behind the car, must of been a sight!

Anyway the exhaust was far too hot to handle and i didnt much fancy hanging about the hard shoulder of the autobahn, not having any water to cool it down; my girlfriend was called into action and peed on it, much to the amusement of german truck drivers driving passed. HAHA that would have been funny. but Instead i poured 2 litres of diet coke (coke light being in Germany), smelt lovely!

A few times. The stupid rubber hanger just seemed to work itself towards the end of the metal hangar and then it was gone! After about the third time, I bent the metal hanger so it couldn't get off it anymore. However, it did make it an absolute female dog to get the rubber bit on again.

Jubilee clip tightened onto the end of the hanger, then Robert is your fathers brother!

The way to stop it coming off at the Y-piece when younhave an LCB manifold is to do the following:
Do both the clamps up tight. If they are just slightly loose, use a very thin piece of steel sheet as a shim to ensure the clamp(s) are good and tight. Make sure the inner clamp flanges are vertically up from the pipe, not down, and the outer ones are horizontal.
Now drill and tap a 1/4" UNF hole right through each clamp and both thicknesses of pipe (LCB and Y-piece). Fit a short 1/4" UNF bolt, with some Loctite, through the clamps and pipes. The Y-piece then cannot pull off the LCB. Make sure there is a clamp plate from the LCB to the diff cover plate with fixings onto 2 cover plate bolts.

hahha thanks cooperman! Much appreciated if it happens again! And with the speed bumps near a mates house it could happen i may have to go to that extreme!
I think it was the clamps that caught and just pulled back on the whole lot! Been driving it for a while now, no problems at all. But was a very funny moment! 650 quid sounds a bit steep!!! All i did was put it back together and changed the angle of the clamps. The mounts are fine had the engine out a while back and replaced them! :)

never had mine tottally fall off, just come of the hanger breifly, so i made some bushes for the ends of the hangers to stop the rubber from being able to slide over them haha!

It used to be a monthly thing for me as I had to drive down king street in wellington which has about 3 sets of sped bumps on it. It never fully fell off but always came away from the manifold
