hi everyone i purchased a 1275gt 1980 and in the excitment and it being delivered the night i went on holiday i have realised it has no vin plate or numbers on the inside wing and the front slam panel has been replaced and the scuttle panel is stone rotten the work on the car is not a problem its just trying to get the vin no with just the registration plate ive tryed hpi check etc and it looks like the only way of finding it out is the dvla inspection which is no problem but the car is in a thousand bits any other ideas guys would be much appreciated as i really want to restore this gem back to whatbit was this is my third clubman what a start lol thanks for your time.

If most of your mini is there, im sure dvla will give it an age related plate if you have no luck finding the original identity. So it isn't the end of the world if nothing turns up, just an inconvenience :/

You can get an application form from the post office if you have the reg number. you'll need proof of ownership (a receipt from the previous owner) and the more info you can get the better.

You may have to have a VIC check though.

I wonder if British Motor Heritage would hold vin details in Rover's absences?

Its a long shot, but if you have any idea where it has been MoT'ed in the past then they will have records including VIN number.
