once you have the v5 in your name someone like minimachine will stamp you a new vin plate

then just pop rivet it on the front panel

the vin number was never stamped into the a shell of that age

Funny that. None of my cars with old style number plates or one on q plate come up on the tax site

On the DVLA website a Mini can often be found registered under one of several different makes like Austin, Morris, Austin-Morris, Austin Morris, Austin Rover, Leyland, Leyland Cars, BL, BMC. etc..........you need to try them all.

have you tried applying for the V5 and just fill in the reg number box ?
