On proper noise tests on rallies, the RC40 is slightly quieter than the equivalent Maniflow, but the Maniflow is better made.
Personally I don't like noisy Minis as it is not necesary to be noisy in order to get good power for a road car and it can annoy people, so twin box systems are better.
Why anyone should want to drive around annoying other people by causing 'noise pollution' does seem a little strange.

Maniflow, if you can afford the price difference, they sound better, last longer due to being better quality although the maniflow systems I've had have been heavy compared to rc40. I no which way I'd spend my money. Cheers Ben

Is there much difference between stainless and mild steel in terms of sound and performance??

Also, how much difference is there between centre and side exit in terms of sound and performance??

Is there much difference between the standard rc40 tail pipe and the large bore rc40 tail pipe in terms of sound and performance??

I read Keith Calver's article on Minispares' site and the choice he made was for twin box side exit for quieter noise and hardly any difference in power output. I suggest you register there and have a read. Also Cooperman above made a post on TMF explaining that too large a diameter will impede power output.

So I ended up ordering a twin box Maniflow side exhaust, standard diameter as I'm only wanting around 80BHP
