Ok, so a twin box side exit will be better for performance, but how much quieter will it be?

They are quite a bit quieter. But I feel they retain the same basic sound - just much more civilised on a journey.

If i went for a single box side exit system instead of a twin box, would there be a noticable performance decrease?

Performance - maniflow

Sound - rc40

I've had both and for a while i had a hybrid of both, maniflow stage2 lcb and link pipe going to a single rc40 back box.

thats what i have

Lots will say yes but the truth is, on a 998, not really. Maybe on paper but not in normal driving

I concur. At the end of the day, just go for whichever you prefer. If you want it noisy, get the single box. If you want it quiet, get the twin. The performance differences are negligible in every day situations.

Considering how many people drive around in desperate need of a tune up ... any of the mentioned exhausts will do the job if the engine is tuned for them.

Even a standard peashooter

I'd recommend the twin box system.

Single box systems are much louder and you run the risk of being illegal/pulled up for roadside checks.

My personal opionion is that Maniflow are slightly noisier systems.

I dont think that you will notice any difference in performance between twin or single box systems between either of the manufacturers.

Just had a delivered a Maniflow single box centre exit.

Havn't fitted it yet but it will be to replace my twin box rc40 side exit that is blowing.

Although this made a nice burble I wanted something a bit noisier and always wanted a centre exit.

To be honest, theres been a few times with my twin box system where i thought...oo i wish it was a bit louder.

Bu then theres also times when im shooting down the motorway when im thinking, christ this exhaust is loud.

Depends how often you use the car, where you drive it and ultimately what you want from it.

RC40 twin box seems to offer a good compromise between, noise, performance and looks.

I do love the look of a center exit, and a friend of mine had a center exit and you can hear it from miles away and it does fill me with jealousy.
Although i do enjoy knowing that iv got the best exhasut performance wise, even if the difference is negligible

The only part about my new exhaust I am not 100% happy with is the fact it upsweeps and has that rim on the end :/

But I bit the bullet ;) and bought it anyway, we will see :)

I will be using the car everyday.
I want performace but i do like a loud car.

Still think i'd rather a single box system as they're much louder but with only minimal performance difference.
Will there be a noticable sound and performace difference between side and centre exit?

Side will have less sound as it has more corners for the sound to travel.

For best performance, you want twin box side exit, not single centre.

Totally agree. I had the twin box RC40 on mine as per GTIAlex's ^ ^
