Was waiting for a thread about this to show up.

It's like a broken record on here sometimes.

so is this an unrelated issue to the one where they caught fire fairly soon after introduction? if so that's either terrible design or awful luck. Two spontaneous bursting into flames issues?

To be fair, the classic mini-ist in me wants to say it's funny and you should have all bought a PROPER mini banterbanterbanter but I can't get over how surprised I am that BMW built a car with an issue like this, they are usually the centre of German anal perfection!

It's going to cost them a fortune too (good job they over charged for them all when new) <<<<sorry, I've got banteritis ;D only kidding MINI people

The other issue relates to the electric power steering pump melting a piece of wiring (happened to the wife's car), also occurring mainly while parked. In some cases this has caused fires too.

Could be worse. MINI could still be a part of Rover and they would just deny any flaws in engine design...

The early clubman estates were all recalled because the rear windows fell out.
