Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, i'm currently doing up my 1992 998cc city and so I thought about time to make a thread for it!

So, its a 1992 city which I managed to pick up cheapish in london a couple years back, it was pretty tired when I bought it and in all honesty didn't really do much to it until a month or two ago...it was parked up on the drive under a cover and all the work i did on it, just rotted away every time it rained so thought with my head (and not my wallet!) and am now renting a nice cosy garage down the road... perfect for a project like this

So what have I done? Well when I bought it seemed pretty bad (nothing on the kinda things you guys have done but still i'm only 16 and its my first project) the engine problems were mostly simple, things like gear selector oil seal, distributor, general service items such as spark plugs, oil filter etc but the rust... it was more a rusty hole than a car...the sills and floor were ruined the guttering was ruined and the boot floor was non-existent. :ermm:

Now though! Had it all fixed engine-wise (it started the other day!) and is pretty much perfect in the engine dept, just the dreaded rust now, generally gunna just chop it out and re-panel etc... gunna hopefully have all the sills done next weekend, then the boot and then just general bodywork. Next gotta get it sprayed up, then just put it back together and add chrome shiny bits!

Needs to be done by summer though b'cus I want to learn to drive in it! >_<

Obviously i'm on a pretty tight budget too, being a student and all that. :goaway:

Yea so anyway this thread will be just generally updated whenever I get to work on it, so watch this space!

Here's some photos:

So, Short update

Bit tedious as just doing paint prep at the moment, so nothing exciting, but got some big plans for the next couple weeks, first off next weekend i'll get all the welding finished - hopefully! and then all will be ready for spray really, will have an inspection and then hopefully get it sprayed early march! then just going to put it part together - just enough for mot (lights, seatbelts, seats etc) then hope for it to pass and if it does, just gotta strap everything back on it and j'ai fini!

Like i said, nothing new really unless you want to see pics of the prep work (i'm sure you don't!) so no pics on this update, but hopefully welding done and then all up from then on!

Little update

Got a couple quotes from the spray shop, but now heres the big decision: what colour!?

Think i've narrowed it down to imperial blue or black? any suggestions would be appreciated though!

Just getting the final prep done, and then should be sprayed in a week or two!

UPDATE!

Let the welding begin! Hopefully all welding will be done by end of the week and can get it sprayed up ASAP, cut out all the rust, making up templates tomorrow and then get one or two in in the next couple days hopefully!

Just need to get myself a new boot lid, a nice solid one hopefully :P

Budget wise, still miles over! Bought my interior stuff the other day from optimise automotive, gotta say their service is A** would totally recommend! So that's another £250 spent! But hey ho, gotta spend sometime eh? Anyway, on phone at the moment so only a little update, big update expected in the next day or so though!

Pics to follow - Will add tomorrow when it's light!

Expect progress this week!
