Im 18 (started the policy when I was 17) with a 1981 Mini HL paying £780 a year TPFT in my own name, with my dad and 18year old girlfriend as named drivers.

I'm 18 and have the exact same car as you!

Yet I'm paying 1500.

It's worth £3.20? No wonder the insurance is so cheap!

£260 a year fully comp with all the bells and whistles.

If I get it insured for my garage it would be £200 - can't guarantee it is always going to be in there so took the safe option.

I'm in a crap area for insurance hence why it is as high as it is. Aldershot - European town of crap since '68, twinned with Beirut.

i have a 1.3i Mini , 1996, paying £900 (UNLIMITED MILES, FULL EU COVER, TPFT, Break down cover) started policy when i was 17 and had only been passed a week !! ALTHOUGH !!!!! EVERYONE !!!!!, classic car insurance is no longer available to young drivers, i am with footman james and when my renewal comes they cannot insure me, meaning i will have to pay modern car price of 2000-4000 depending on the market . They dont know when the compaines will start up again but talks are in place, it could be tomorrow or it could never happen. So if you are a young driver RING UP AND CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE !!!

I'm 40 and my original quote was for £130 until I remembered that insurance companies are arses and don't allow me to use my hefty NCD across multiple cars. It's now gone up to £430. I'm 40! It's a 1.3. It barely leaves the garage. My E-Class doesn't cost a lot more than that (although that does have the NCD applied)...

19, two years no claims, all mods declared. £875

Funny thing was that when i told them about fitting wider arches and wheels that added an extra £200 or so to the insurance, however when i say I've fitted a stage 1 kit that doesn't affect anything! Insurance companies are strange... O_O
