my farther has shot for England in the past, mostly trap, and was very successful. wish i could say the skill rubbed off on me :mmkay:. but he shoots beretta DT10 32g cartridges.

yes you should try out a shot gun but it took almost a year for my licence to get processed! good luck pal ;D

EDIT: i did mean to write trap not crap just incase you thought it was a typo ;D

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed response, and it didn't come across as brash. Given your military training it's a different scenario to the Average Joe I would say. I accept your points and liked the comparison of the kid going to get a knife!

If every single person in America who owned a gun was to the same level of training and awareness, I can understand it. I would think not all owners/families are as aware as yours or as trained though.

The point about the government just coming into your homes is the same here. They still need warrants etc. We don't have guns though to keep them out - just the threat of the European Court of Human Rights  You can win any legal case with that!

I've been to America a couple of times but not seen anyone other than Police armed. My mates went to a range in Vegas and most of them did ok, except one who couldn't shoot for love nor money. The other lads were telling me he didn't listen to instruction though. He managed to shoot the ground with a pistol when the target was about 10m away  He is the kind of person who definitely shouldn't be walking around armed.

Not being funny but all i wanted to know mainy was about getting a shot gun. to shot rabbits and small game. i live in the countryside so its not a crazy idea.

What i did not ask for was an Opnion on the rights and Wrongs of owning guns in America. BUT its was written in a constitution nearly 250 years ago back when slavery was the norm, native Americas were being murdered and raped of there lands and Britain owned 1/3 of the world. 250 years ago in Britain you could own a gun 250 years ago in germany you could own a gun, 250 years ago in any country you could own a gun BUUUT most of these countries changed and updated there laws to keep up with the times.

i think Americans are worried someones always out to get them the British, the Natives, African Americans, russians, terrorists and criminals. its just the way the are, but hey it makes some good police documentries.

Sorry to take over your post. I was simply responding to other posts. As far as worried, I guess you could say that. Being the top dog and a lot of countries jelous of our freedoms and view of others about our country, yeah we have enemies. But thats another discussion all together. So I'll refrain from going off topic

i would advise getting a 12 bore :D as i find it kills the game easier oh and get some 28 gram cartridges as it wont be too much of a kick but still deliver a lean blow to the animal ;D hate it when I hear people say "you need to be a better shot to kill a rabbit with a 20 bore... bla bla bla" but because of it being a 20 bore if you hit the rabbit and it just injures it its not fair on the animal plus you have to walk around for ages!!! to try and finish it off. oh and i don't do it for fun just vermin controal.
