The cage has been adapted from the original bolt in cage that was installed originally. The chap who I bought it off was a fabricator hence the extra sills and some of the other features. Very neat work on the rear bench and pockets too.

Will be competing in local sprints and hillclimbs, my dad and brother just started last year.

Curborough, Loton, Prescott, Shelsley etc with any luck. Are there any from here who do any midlands events? Need to get the class numbers up!

I'll be doing the curbourough championship I think. If I get my act together, having a few issues with the car though at the mo.

Just need to get doors fitted up and give it a mop and polish!

Not looking forward to adding the oily bit and fixing all those screws/nuts and bolts!

Well, slow progress eh! As usual other things have proved to be a distraction!

Its on its wheels, mostly! I need to sort out brakes and wiring at the moment. Shopping list for the moment consists of:
  • MkII Wiring Loom - I really dont know if I've got the patience to make one, it might come to this though.
  • 7.5" Calipers
  • Discs
  • Braided Hoses - Full set for the car
That lot should let me make reasonable progress, I've got a fair bit of stuff.

Having a concerted effort from the end of this month to get it sorted in time. The engine is off to BES to have a CC check for the CR, centre main strap fitted and a quick freshen up.

Engine Spec:

1380cc -
Stage 4 Head - Rebuilt
Forged 1.5 Rockers
Duplex Veriner
Single Webber 45

Fingers crossed payday is a good one!!

I'll be competing in sprints & hillclimbs again next year, and am planning on venturing south to Prescott at some point.

Are you going modified production then? I've get mine in road going, as the MSA Class 1 regs are now what Harewood used to call "Road Modified" where you have a lot of scope for tuning, diff etc but with a lot of the rest kept fairly standard. From your initial plan, I thought road going as you can be competitive in a very drivable car (mine's fine on the road, just a bit stiff) - but, with a weld in cage and some of the other bodywork mods it would be in mod prod, which puts you up against completely stripped out cars with 16v heads and the like.

It'd be nice to see a few more cars being built for road going, it suits minis very well when they're competing against each other.

These things always seem to take longer than expected..... House move, work and other cars snuck in the way at times, however, its done. Well, almost, needs wipers and a MOT.

Fresh engine on the rollers today yielded 116bhp at the flywheel, 93bhp at the wheels. 103lbft torque.

Interesting for the air box. I had to put the bulkhead back in mine for the regs. But may be as the car was not actually in it ;)
