theres plenty of over time on at work :D

10-15k`s worth?

where did you get that figure from?

I know of a few top end KAD engines that surpass 10k.

KAD engines are completely different to the 8 port you cannot compare the prices of the two.

Nonetheless it would be easy to spend over £10,000 on an all new 8 port from an engine builder. The head kit on its own is around £3,000. An all out race Arden 8 port is very pricey.

Physically yes, but in terms of engine building the block is mostly the same. Bar one has a special camshaft for the head and one has all its lobes taken off. Piston cutouts and minor details ect.

Anyhow this is going a bit off topic. I suspect the KAD head is designed to line up on 1275 bores. thus block cutouts are going to be needed on a 998. I suspect then youre at risk of opening the cutouts into each other. Plus the headgasket?

well the bloke who told me about the head has 1380 engine complete but in bits ready to be built back up with all the machine work done, the details are sketchy at the moment until i talk to him about it again and see what the crack is, but i dont think the 8 port head he was talking about was his, so ill have to see yet, but it might be worth me saving up for the head, and any machining work will be done by people i know fairly well or by myself in my free time at work and at home

either way i still think i may end up turboing the car but its miles away yet so lets wait and see, thanks for the input though guys just woundered if it would be a worthy investment if the oppurtunity was there

Many people have had great success with the modern GT series of turbochargers. People are starting to play with the VNT ones now too. Control is the issue i suspect.

It costs lost of money to get a reliable 120+ hp from an a-series engine especially with the 5 port. Ive been there, done that. Didnt get the t-shirt as i couldnt afford it.

Turbo is the way forward.
