does it go away if you slightly press the pedal and raise the idle speed?

before you go replacing the seals, just try and tighten them up, 7mm allen key on them i think, with hdi engine such as this one they recommend that the injector pipes should be replaced if removed, also the pipes on them are a bit of a pain to remove from the pump if i remember correctly and the pipes need to be tourqued up correctly using a crows foot socket to 25nm.

if you need to know out more i working in a peugeot dealership so just shout up and i'll try my best to help

Mm, tried tightening them up, a little better, but still chuffs and smells. I guess that confirms they need doing.

Anyway, bit of an issue here, that i havent come across, since i left my previous job, ive been doing work on a self employed basis, anyway, ive spoken to the guy, told him the seals need replacing, but he says they dont, as they werent done long ago, complete dick, also says the noise and smell must be coming from elsewhere, so what should i do in this situation? Im fairly certain they need doing.

They're not expensive at all. If he's an epxert why isn't he fixing it? Even if new ones doesn't sort it will eliminate them & won't have cost much before you move on to more expensive things. I'd just tell him to take it else where if he is being funny with you.

I did nearly say to him, if hes such an expert why isnt he servicing his car and fixing it, lol, but I decided in the end to do them, and if thats what fixes the noise, then thats what fixes the noise, he can take it up with the garage that done them. Im half way through the job, just need to go borrow a tool from my friend, as the the seals are stuck to the head :s
