Here is the build thread for the first of our custom builds in our new unit space.

Our base car will be this 1990 998 which is currently sitting in a pearlescent white/purple flip paint.

The basic specification for this build is as follows;

'Sportspack' Look-A-Like
Tahiti Blue with White Roof
'Cooper' Bonnet and Side Stripes
13x7 Minilite Wheels
'Sportspack' Arches
Chrome Trim/Finishing
Clear Rear Light Clusters and Clear Indicators
4 Spot Lights
'Stage 1' 1275 Engine Conversion
Alarm and Remote Central Locking Kit
Opening Rear Quarter Windows
Black Classic Bucket Seats
Walnut 3 Clock Dash and Centre Console
CD/MP3 Radio with Front and Rear Speakers
6 Months Tax
Full Test
Warranty

The spec is much more detailed than that but that will give you an idea of what the car will be heading towards.

Estimated Collection Date: 17/03/2012

Enjoy.

Here is the base car as it stands now;
The car is inspected by the buyer at this stage to discuss the finer points of the build and then we start the real fun on Monday!

Im looking forward to seeing how this goes as its a possible route i might take when i am in a better position to buy another mini. Can i be cheeky and ask how much the purchase price of this spec is?

How does it work with the V5, do you use the existing V5 from the shell and then change the details to match the "new" car?

I can't really discuss the prices, it wouldn't be fair on the buyer, if you want to PM me I can give you an idea of what some builds may cost you.
This is a great route for people to take because you get a fully rebuilt mini that is exactly how you want it, at a surprisingly low price!

The V5 from the base car is used as we use the shell and running gear so the car is entitled to its original identity.

The engine is now out of the car and the front wiring loom has been rebuilt due to a past short. We changed the bent tie rods yesterday and got the underside and floors stone chipped.

The front panel is in a sorry state so that will be changed and then it will go off for it's shiny new spray job! Once it is back from spray it will move surprisingly quickly as we already have most of the stuff that's going to go back on!

(quick note, the buyer is now going for 13x7 starmags so this will be a very tasty car once finished!)

Couldn't believe how well the front panel fit! Car is looking good now, got the rear drums off yesterday (they were a nightmare) so the new shoes and drums will go on tomorrow.

Shocks and front discs and pads will be done tomorrow and we have sourced a great pair of seats for it. Headlining is sorted, a retro retrims job which will be fitted after spray.

Coming along very nicely, just struggling to get a booking with the sprayer because he is so busy but we will get everything else ready so once it's sprayed it's just bolting it back together.
