Cheers mate Heres what I tend to call " Just a bit chavy". to be honest though, I do actually like this one

Every time I see that mini it has had more holes cut into it
Don’t think the front end would ever rust as there is such little left

You will have to make sure you miss the strengthening struts that go diagonally across the back of the bonnet.

Are these diagonal bars essential? I haven't put them on my new bonnet, but it's fibreglass, and feels strong enough.

Cheers.

With the fiberglass I belive its fine. I'm sure the metal ones are just more flexy whilst fibre glass more brittle.

Wouldn't hurt having something underneath though.

Sorry to drag up an old post but I found it in a search :X

I have recently started crafting a vent/scoop/intake and have go to blening it in, but now I've read this I dont see the point, The General does get rather warm though. Would it make a difference if i took a cold air feed from the front and directed it straight at the rad in an attempt to cool it down? no fancy vent/scoop just a hole and a bit of pipe pointed at the rad?

Cheers,
A confused Matt

well, i dont really think it would help much, as the grilles so big the airs gonn be going to the rad anyway. but do it if you want and see if it makes a difference

As has been pointed out, lots of cold air comes in, its just a case of directing it to where you want.

If you want to remove heat, then do what everyone else does. Do what ERA did with the Turbo (drill holes at the back and then use a small vent to stop the water getting in) also helps warm up the windscreen during winter)) or what alot of people do is cut DairyLea holes across the back.

Wing holes however, are an excellent idea for track cars if you have to use side mounted rads.

If you can get away with it, a Metro rad (or similar) in the front is alot better for cooling.

Smudger mate, I WILL be speaking to you within the next few weeks for An FG two peice front. How ever, the bonnet im after is a scooby scoop without those chavy vents near the front and MKI stylee. Pretty much a one off??? whats your view on doing this work??

Thanks Colin.

I need the Scooby scoop for a reason, 180HP needs some consideration :X
