luvlygal already established that they were gonna take their children in the mini hich i thought was fair enough because there is nothing i can do about that, so i was gonna leave it there, then puggered came in. i dont know why people are blaming me. i believe a mini isnt a safe car in a crash. why argue that against me? let this topic go back to car seats.

I'm more than happy to take baby Shifty in my mini, as are many many many other mini owners.

Nobody is having a pop at you Josh, you think minis are unsafe in a crash. I think I should call up my insurance company tomorrow and ask them if my premium of £79 per year is actually a mistake considering the mini isn't safe in a crash

£79 a year?!

I'm muttering some incredibly strong words right now Mr Puggered.

I got a quote of over £600 yesterday! Admitedly, I imagine, because my no claims are on our 1.9 turbo but bah ruddy humbug!

I am the other half. I wasn't blaming you for anything, no one was. Don't be so touchy. I simply said no one asked for an opinion on whether it was safe, so please leave that can of worms outside this thread. The question was about car seats going in a Mini, so your post was completely irrelevant and unasked for, but I wasn't having a go. You make some good points. No, Minis aren't as safe as a brand new car, but everyone knows that. My point was 2000MY Blahblah will get as screwed over in a 80mph closing speed collision with a new car as a Mini will. So there's no point arguing about it unless we all only drive brand new cars. That's not going to happen.

I have a D-Turbo too in Miami Blue lol. I pay about £140 for that but I'm in my late 30's and also an advanced driver

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I am wanting to find a car seat for my son that I can put in the back of my Mini. I'm on a small Island so there isn't much choice in shops to try in the car before buying, so it looks like I will have to buy straight online. I would just like to know of a brand that someone definitely knows will fit in the rear of the Mini (If one exisits). My son is coming up to 9 months so he no longer can stay in his baby seat, and the missus is getting fed up of having to sit in the back whilst his seat is in the front. Thanks.

Recaro Young Sport.  It's good until they don't need seats any more and fits well.  I have about 3 of these in different cars now and they are great, need more soon too for our new baby boy.  If the car has the genuine rear inertia belts (and possibly the static ones, I've never tried) then by the time you change to using the seatbelt around the seat instead of the built in harness (13Kg I think, but this may have changed recently) you will have to have longer webbing fitted by a specialist.  FDTS in West Byfleet did mine and they are great.  But for the next 2 years or so, while the harness in the seat is being used, the seatbelt is a good size to hold the seat in place.

Also, these are just brilliant seats.  Very good quality, easily cleaned, quality brand, lightweight.  Everything you could want, they don't look like they will fit but they really do.

I'm considering making and fitting a removable isofix system which will bolt into the rear seatbelt mounts

I have two car seats of different typed in the rear of both my minis. I've found that most types of forward facing car seats seem to fit, the main issue appears to be how much each design obscures the rear window.

We used our usual one that we bought from Halfords. I have also used a booster seat and that works as well. Main problem is persuading her to go in the back, she wants to be driving!
