I'm nearly 17 and I've just got a 1987 Mini Park Lane (998cc) for my first car. I've always loved the classic mini ever since I became aware of cars..especially after I saw the first Italian Job
As far as I can tell she is completely original, including wheel trims, interior and paint work. I also know that she was professionally restored a few years ago and completely under - sealed.
I don't plan on doing any major work to her, just a few personal touches to make it mine :)
First thing I did was add stripes to the bonnet (of course!
), then sorted out a few little things like exhaust brackets, indicators, and an oil leak (cracked sump :S) and some minor engine work.Next on the agenda is some Minilite/Superlight alloy wheels. Now i understand the original wheels are 12x4.5 in size, but the wheels I would like only come in 12x5. I dont want to have to add wider arches or to cut away any of the body, so can anyone tell me whether they will definitely fit (whilst staying legal!)? After that I want to add 2 driving lamps and 2 fog lights to the front grille...thats all for the moment!
