To add to this thread I did a bit of searching after someone asked me a question about final drives and came up with this as a solution:

You can buy an OEM Honda 4.1 final drive, the part numbers are:

41233-RAP-000 – Ring Gear

23221-RAP-000 – Countershaft

I asked my local friendly Honda stealer to get me a price on them and I got this reply:

"

Hi Andy

Price for ring gear is £255.38 inc VAT

Countershaft is £354.53 inc VAT

The ring gear would take a couple of weeks to arrive in stock, the countershaft would be 2 days to arrive.

Many thanks

Chris

"

So for £609.91 you can get yourselves a 4.1 final drive without the concern of holes not being the right size or any of that bo!ox, I wish I had this info 4 years ago........

FYI I sourced the above part numbers from this thread: http://www.k20a.org/...ead.php?t=83688

i got a 3.9 not 4.3 from z cars for £800..not to bad? me thinks

Ah ha, thats better. and only £50 more than I paid for mine.

Right, now what diff are you going for? I ask because when I took my G-box to CPL to get the Quaife ATB put into it it turned out the holes on the final drive where the wrong size (10mm not 11mm as per the standard Honda fitment) so I had to have them spark eroded to the larger standard fitment, also make sure that you get the speedo ring put on the diff else your ECU cant tell when you're moving to tell the G-box to blank out the reverse gear.

I would advise, and I am sure Al Reidy would agree, that the Gripper diff is a bit too much for a road car, if racing is your thing then go for the Gripper.

Sorry about the late reply lads  This is my gear box rant!!  i did learn the hard way  i got my final drive gear through zcars  the lads were very helpful  i was over the moon i found one!  i had been looking for a f-drive gear for 2 years for my other k20 engined mini project  i did use a quaife ATB from CPL i dropped the gear box off with the gear box guy  every one uses up our way next day phone call  your gear box mesh is nackerd!!... >box bought through EBAY lol  lucky i had a k20 gear box with a broken casing so droped it off.  phone call two days later the bolt holes in the final d gear are 10mm it needs 11mm.. zcars contacted gripper gripper contacted me sent it off come back cost of £60 - £25 postage dropped it off 2 days later! we cant press the gears over the main shaft with our 30 ton press  looks like the tollerances are out!!  gets back on to gripper gripper said funny we have had a few like this?  so they had it picked up off it went three weeks later back it comes  drops it off with g/b/guy few days later phone call its finished ready to be picked up..yes!  speedo ring andy?  i hope he did fit it lol  its just like everything i have come up against with this build  you dont just need money you need lots of patience and a good sense of humour!  rant over!  thanks for the heads up lads!  ...Andy your build pictures and new trackday videos on youtube keep me focused. thanks ..gary

You're not wrong about not only needing money but patience.......there were times I could have thrown it all in......but as you see in the videos there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the light goes really fast.

It's a shame I couldn't have gotten you the info above about the 4.1FD sooner, it would have saved a lot of time and anger.

The speedo rings aren't much money but it is needed for the ECU, that's if you're using Hondata or OEM, or dont care about maybe crunching into reverse by accident in a forward gear.
