thanks, just a shame most of the paint was stripped after being bored and cleaned >_<

oh well i can paint it again. progress is coming as the pistons have been fitted to rods and i've basically got everything now apart from the mirage manifold, hopefully should have that in a week

well bad news this week, the cabriolet will have to be sold

basically my house is being sold so i've got to get rid of some cars and because my mpi project has taken me 2 years i've decided its best to finish and keep that, also the turbo engine that is being built will be fitted to that instead

so i'll keep this project running but instead of turbo it will be converted to mpi with my fresh built engine i already have and then sold privately or auctioned off

bad times but needs must, dont seem to be getting a break with my mini projects, something always gets in the way :(

nice car, love the colour.

one thing i noticed, is that its usually better to get the block bored with the pistons, so they can check everything with the pistons your using. rather than doing it without them.

shame you have to sell it, bad time to sell aswell lately. We have a cabriolet conversion project that we are hoping to finish and sell this year.

thanks, the block was bored to see how far they would have to go, only one bore was quite worn, so i then provided them with the pistons a couple of days later to put on the rods and sort everything out, i basically let the engineering company take the lead on this one as they're a truisted company my friends garage have used for years, fingers crossed all is well on the engine front very soon

bad time to sell anything really, i've got my volvo v40 t4 up for sale to but even thats taking a while to sell, i think im looking at a loss in the long run but my hands are tied, i'll soon forget about it all when the cash is in my hands though :D

good luck with the cabrio to, definitely need it with this crappy car market at the mo

here's the new replacement engine to be fitted for the sale of the car

mpi engine with 37,000 original miles, stripped and checked, anything that needed doing was done, including a rebuilt gearbox and new clutch, plus a bit of go faster paint :D

Posted Image

and will post up pics of the car before it goes to paint this week, basically front end and interior stripped, mpi subframe fitted along with all new bushes and mounts, brake calipers all painted up and new pads fitted. also for the mpi conversion the front panel had to be cut to clear the rad fan, also the slam/front panel strengthener had to be moved over

pics to follow shortly

back from paintwork the other day, had the front panel, scuttle, engine bay, inner windscreen surround and b pillars done, came out quite nice apart from some overspray on the subframe but i've since repainted the affected areas, so here's the results

That's really interesting. I've never seen inside a genuine cabriolet shell before... Now I know what kind of reinforcement my Keith's Convertible's job SHOULD have in there! >_<

lol yeah probably lots more than it actually has, i've not even put pictures up of the parcel shelf re-inforcement or the sills and flitch panels, also the windscreen surround is double skinned at the top and has a bar that goes round the inside then down each pillar and connects to the inner wings, alot of welding has gone into one of these, probably would explain the rediculous price when they was new
