They made a loss on each one sold!
here is the rover technician having a good look round a bare shell explaining all the differences
bit bland but hey it is rover lol
paint job looks great and kudos on the welding!!
ive got a few questions though as ive just made some silly mistakes on my cabriolet lol
mine had metro turbo seats that had been recovered in it
which i hated!, so i picked up so recently recovered in leather some recaro's that originally came in them
and sold the turbo ones *doh*
do the seat frames with the sliders bolt straight into the main beam strengethened panel and the bar bolted into the sill?
and is the rear seat slightly narrower than a standard mini one?
also mine never came with rear door-cards
would it be possible to make a fibreglass mould out of them?
doesnt have to be perfect as i just need a rough template lol
ive looked EVERYWHERE for them
managed to get a full set of replacement windows though which is a god send!
with the weather as it is you wont have a problem selling the mini-cab!

yeah seen that "bland" rover vid a while back, interesting but extremely boring as you would expect from rover
the seats rear of the seats bolt to the bars that go from exhaust tunnel to inner sills, then the front is mounted on top of a bracket welded to the crossmember, can get a pic of it if you require more detail just let me know

as for the rear doorcards i wouldnt have the first clue how to make a mould of them

and as mine were from a different car i was worried it had been bodged on!
if you could take some pictures of your rear seat and close ups of the various mounts for the front seats
that would be incredibly handy!
shouldnt be a problem then!
the mouldings are pretty easy, just a bin bag over the original door cards to protect them
and lay out some fibreglass fabric covering the whole area
then brush a resin hardener over the top
leave it for 10 mins and peel it off the bin bag
ta-dah another set off door-cards :)
about £10 worth of stuff
It is alot to ask as they are so rare so i may post up a request thread
After hours of research i have also found that RIMMER BROS
they used to do quite a few mini cabriolet parts including the doorcards (£200

had a couple of months of serious house work and reconstruction but thats over and done with and the house is up for sale, so until the sale date i have 2 projects to finish, this and my mpi, time to work i think
so new windscreen fitted as the laminate on the old one was going milky and the chrome locking strip was turning clear, looks alot better now
also engine in, but not after some trouble with the mounts, the mg rover ones are complete poop, made it impossible to line up the holes and also one actually fell apart, cant imagine how long it would have lasted when actually in road use. so solution......new non gen mounts, engine slipped right in and the rubber was actually better quality, who'd of thought it
also fitted the sideskirts and front arches back in place, all seats and doorcards are back in, next fitting the wiring loom
well heres a quick pic

and i bought another car, mk2 fiesta xr2

today i went about replacing the inner cv's, was just going to reboot the old ones but on closer inspection replacement of the whole joint is the better option, i only ended up managing the nearside today because i had to do it twice! basically i put it all together and realised i didnt put the oil seal in the output casing

anyway heres a few pics of how the car is at the mo, fitted newly painted caliper along with new pads and a flexi brake hose

full mpi steering wheel and column fitted and dashboard half wired

most of the loom plugged in, all ancillaries fitted just a few little bits and pieces to finish before starting it up for the first time
