So let's clear this up.. Could buy the hinges at 200 odd pounds....look like the real thing.....

OR

could go for proper internal hinged doors (reinforced) with a mk1/2 inner and outer panels welded into the shell with proper hinges....

What happens about the winding windows. Will they not fowl the inner hinge supports or the bolts.....

I have a mk3 shell and am looking to do this but I haven't seen any one do it

Am I right in I thinking that the mk1 doors are different shapes.... Believe the angle for the b puller is different...Correct or wrong?

I have seen similar panel gaps from the factory.

Yip knew as much.... So anyone re inforced the mk3 door to similar standard to the mk1? I have both and looks simple enough but using the forum to best and seeing if anyone else had the issues I will more than likely come across....

I'm not sure that you can actually buy the £200+ fake hinges anymore, I seem to recall reading that they're no longer listed on the Arc Angels website, so it might now be a case of having to do a proper hinge conversion anyway.

I think Mini Mag had a feature on fitting a plastic set from Japan a couple of months ago --- these look different from the ones above.

They were still expensive.

Funny how things change, years ago my mates with external hinges really wanted the Mk3 look - now it's the other way round.

I can take pictures as I'm going along might even make a thread
as for cost I bought a set of new a panels as the previous owner didn't do them right (bottom of the panel stick out)for 22.00 a set of hinges for 45 but sold my internal ones for 20 then a sheet of metal which was free if you want to go in depth then obviously there's welding wire, gas, weld through primer and etc
But all together for me as I have my paint and spray gun and so on its cost me around 70 pound excluding my time which I drink lots of tea and I eat aswell

why not get the real hinges , unscrew the door studs on the rear hinge

fit the front (drill & bolt on) , now the rear part of the hinge is loose

glue a strong magnet in the void inside the rear part of the hinge

to stop scratching of the paint , just put felt (or something similar) over the magnet

put a bit of polish on the felt - to reduce friction

job done - wish I had copyrighted it ;o)

anyone done door hinges , cut down to work on the front of the mini bonnet ? (maybe boot hinges would be better)

(I really want a front hinged bonnet , had a few pop up while driving along in the past)

They did, I think they were £150 or more. Someone on here was looking at bringing in a few sets but I can't remember who.
