What you going to do with the windows... Leave them rollers.....

Can I ask where you got hinges for,£22 very interested...alloy ones?

Leave the windows standard for the time being as converting to sliding windows so yes roller
And the two a panel was 22 not the hinges
And my hinges were off a mk2
That word alloy = lots of money the only ones I can think of are billet from force racing

Instead of all the complexity and ugly mechanism of the hinge shown earlier, if you just want the hinges to look like MK 1 when the door is closed, can't you just remove the pins from a set of MK 1 hinges, file or machine the slot and tongue to get plenty of operating clearance, and screw the two halves to the door and A panel, so that they just disengage when the door is opened?

Actually, MK 1 hinges may have some real value, so you could get a casting kit, with silicone rubber mould material, and cast your own in Mazak, or even epoxy. Once painted, it matters not what they are made from, as they have no structural function.

You could do
but 2 question
What's the point in buying a set of hinges to basically destroy them to fit mk3 and bolt them on I would rarther remove the internal hinges and reinforce the a panels and door
And how long would it take to make the hinges?
As it be far quicker to use hinges that look good and actually work

The only issue I can see that hasn't been mentioned yet is the external hinges taking the weight of the heavier door.
Because the hinge pins are so short they will be under a lot of stress so the pins will wear quicker leading to the doors dropping.

Cost is not an issue. Fitting mk1 inner a panels when it's a new shell is. Steel doors on car with winder mechanisms already and glass so no quick easy way around it. It's more about aesthetics. Just can't remember name of Japanese company and arc angels have stopped making them. Looked at a diy option using an origional hinge but geometry is all wrong

.
Dont need mk 1 inner a panel just reinforced the a panels with two triangles and weld them on then bolt the hinges through it im ones of these people that have done it and it works not had any door drop etc the fake ones do look good when shut but look dreadful when open and there's a few people who tryed making but bave failed

Australian minis have windup windows and external hinges . However if you have doors with side intrusion bars that will add to the weight significantly. The trick is to keep an eye on the bushes, of you wear through them the hinges are junk pretty quickly.

The inner a panel stiffener isn't that expensive anyway, but the magnum ones need a lot of cutting/hammering and welding to fit right.

I'm sure someone was trying to do a group buy/import of them here a while back, not sure if it ever happened though. I'll see if I can find the original thread.
