id explain to him that as you are restoring it there will be a time when the angle grinder is not needed. id also tell him that it is not your aim to annoy him only to get the job finished, also that using an angle grinder and a small electric helicopter is perfectly within your rights as well as his. if he has had any building work done then you have just as much right to mention that and how you did not complain,

unless of course you did complain in which case are you surprised he's complaining)

he has a dog barking at all hours smokes weed at my back door where my kids play and i still dont complain lol

I would be looking into that agreement to see how much of a leg you stand on, and if hes right, sounds like you have some ass kissing to do and sort out a time when you can do noisy things, and if hes wrong, sounds like a big petrol helicopters on the cards :P preferably with a smoke dispenser or floodlights or a siren :P

it only says no noise or vibrations between 8am and 10pm lol

No late night loving for you then ;)

i have a similar issue with my neighbour, anything that makes a noise louder than fly's wings clapping together and he is straight on the phone to the police...but every time the police come round, they see what a mountain out of a mole hill he is making and they issue us a warning and that's the end of it. but it happens at least twice a month for as long as i can remember so now i'm getting my own back, building work on the house as early and late as legally possible and my mini is also going to be as loud as legally possible (no baffles in the silencer :shifty:) and a ma-whhooossivve ICE install

and you are completely in the right, he just sounds like the type of bloke who gets a kick out or annoying others

Ignore them? Mardy bastard over the road moans about my bike a lot, I tend to add an extra minute of 'engine warm up' time for each time he looks over and shakes his head.

Haha, when i first had mine I fired it up and a massive cloud of smoke came out the exhaust. Neighbours have a van, and the wind was blowing in there direction. Next thing I know, they come walking about from behind the van asking me to stop gassing them

I started it up the other morning as well, and someone was out over the road. When it fired they jumped right out their skin

my neighbours are cool, super bikes and super cars, engines make noise. We accept that
Dogs bark, Ask any 5 year old what noise a dog makes. Working outside sometimes requires power tools which are often noise and smell producers. As long as its considerate and not constant, anything goes.

i say if its not in the contract then keep doing what your doing as normal. there isnt any need to go OTT. if you keep getting pestered by him then i would make a complaint about him, then the shoe is on the other foot. we live above two old people and they are good as gold. they even come out and chat with me. be sensible about it.

Just had one today, being ranted at for hovering, washing the week worth of mud off (I'd have been better off with a boat thanks to the rain last week) and touching over some rust with a brush. Apparently my hovering was too loud, I was covering his car with dust while washing the mini. And apparently there is now paint overspray from me using a kids paint brush to touch in a few rust spots.

It's not been the first time he's ranted, more like every time I'm anywere near the mini. So obviously I flipped out. So now acording to him I'm a rude, disrespectful 'kid' with no repect for others.

Also tried blaming me for some grinding during the week. I'd love to know how it was me though, I leave for work at 7am and am not back by at least 6pm. So grinding is the last thing on my mind when I get home.

The old bloke next to me is lovely, always asks how the restoration is going! The people on the other side don't like me and don't speak because of the noise I make! But the people next to them I offered my phone number to and told them to text me if I'm making too much noise as they have a young kid! They reckon the noise doesn't bother them!

I'm all for backing the excessive noise throughout the day but I'd be careful if you're doing a resto on your drive. You never know what they could do to it. I'd be inclined not to piss the guy off too badly but you've got to be well within your rights to use your angle grinder. I don't know.

You just don't want a gang of 'bad boys' coming and vandalising your mini. but if its a guy with a 3 inch p*nis helicopter then I don't think there will be too much trouble >_<
