Anyone Like Their Job?

I also get paid to stay fit and healthy and part of working day is to do so (although at the moment I'm doing a pretty crap job of that!). Next week I am going mountain biking in the Harz mountains (and get to use my own bike this time!) for the second time in two months. I have made some great mates and got to do things I wouldn't have done before. I also get time off work to go as play sport (I'm only good enough to play cricket but it still counts).
The major downside is I'm currently in Germany, and with my whole life being in the UK I spend a lot of time and money travelling to and from. Oh and a lot of the people higher are up are useless. Despite having some very good friends and looking out for each other, the team spirit thing is often lacking and there are plenty of people with too big an ego who will stab you in the back to advance their own careers. I think is true of many walks of life though to be fair.
Overall, best decision I made, certainly at the time. A fresh challenge and going back to the UK (hopefully Oxford) and I'll be pretty happy overall!
At the moment, having any job is a good thing. Everyone says money is not important but I disagree. If you don't earn enough to do some of the things you want to do, it will likely make you miserable and not enjoy your job and it is therefore a vicious circle. Earning a good amount for you and being happy in your job are equally important to me.

Of course I have had some pretty sh1tty days but that is part and parcel of doing what I do.
New job (role) in August or thereabouts, may not be to everyones taste but I love a new challenge every 2-3 years, freshens you up and keeps you on your toes.

the problem that most people seem to have is finding something they like doing that pays enough, I know lots of people that had mundane jobs and did volunteering etc in things they were actually interested in try get a foot in the door - guess it's just know what you would enjoy doing that's the biggest challenge

Exactly my current situation.................Everyone says money is not important but I disagree. If you don't earn enough to do some of the things you want to do, it will likely make you miserable and not enjoy your job and it is therefore a vicious circle. Earning a good amount for you and being happy in your job are equally important to me.

To be honest Iuse none of the stuff I learnt in my degree, it was more of a foot in the door. I'd say stick at applying for what you really want to do and be patient, the right one will come along. Perhaps look at some evening courses / freelance to get some experience up if the ideal job is very different to what you're doing?
I also agree with Black.Ghost, money is important: we need it to live, and we deserve a little treat once in a while. It shouldn't be all about the money though - money and a rubbish job doesn't make you happy (speaking from experience!).
