Rose petal? Sounds a bit gay to me.
These wheels were originally manufactured by John Cooper Garages & were fitted to the Works racers as well as most other successful racers in the mid 1960's. They were a copy of the wheels made for the Cooper Grand Prix cars.
At one time they were THE ONLY alloy wheel available for a Mini. Minilite wheels were later by a few months in December 1963 and were copied/ based on the Rose Petal design.
Original Rose petals wheels are much sought after. Reproductions from Vortz and Minispares were more expensive but Midland Wheels recently reproduced them at a lower price in 10 & 12" and many say the quality is quite good.

p.s. recently went to a local British car meet. and five out of ten mk1 mk2 coopers had rose petals on. One guy explained to me the reason there are no center caps is because they don't want anything to fall off on to the track. So I guess that says something about it's racing heritage.
p.p.s
here's a lovely van with rose petals
