Booked in for next week at RE Performance Centre in Bury. Seemed very genuine over the phone so we shall see.

My friend will only ever take his beetle there!!! Plus there a whizz with webbers aswell!!! Have a fun day and I'm sure you will love it, how much do they charge now as its a good 14 years since I've been there

Cheers James

For a full set up and power run with printout is £120 + cost of the carb jets etc. Looking forward to seeing what power it can put out.

What a day it was... waited more than 2 hours before they would look at the mini because someone else booked in before me took longer than expected and then they had lunch after. So when they finally put it on the rollers, long story short, 5 hours later after a load of messing about with the chokes and jets he gave up on it and went home. Don't think he had much of a clue to be honest and was generally quite grumpy with me and the car. HOWEVER, the owner of the workshop (ken) took over and he was very knowledgable as he used to build track and sprint minis years ago. He got it running a bit smoother on the bottom end and adjusted the ignition timing. He also fitted a pair of trumpets and some new spark plugs. Once he had sorted the fueling out he did a power run and the engine produces 80bhp @ 5500rpm at the wheels which i was impressed with (over 100bhp at the flywheel). I didn't want it revving any higher than this as the engine is still fairly new but it shows signs of improvement once it has more miles on it.

Overall a long and eventful day but at least I know the engine is running right now.

Thread revival!!!!!!!!!

I've heard that Rob no longer looks after the Rolling Road at Minisport which is a shame as he was a very knowledgeable chap and a nice chap too!

Just spoken to MInisport and he's off for a good while with back issues and they don't know when (or if!!) he'll return.

Either way I'm in need of a local rolling road in the North West that can tune twin SU's Anybody used one of late?

Thanks.

I previously had my Caterham rolling roaded at Mikeanics, but more recently for a geometry setup I used Dave Gemzoe in Wakefield (http://www.gemzoe.com). Dave does rolling road tuning as well and I believe he specialises in Minis as well as Caterhams, I'll certainly be using him for my next setup. Don't expect a fancy industrial unit, he works out of a garage but he really knows his stuff.

I really recommend John sleath, he always looks after my minis but he is based hear Doncaster which could be a little too far for you.
I had a mini there last Friday and I was very happy with the results.

I rang minisport last week about booking my car in. They never said the rolling road wasn’t available. I have used ab garage before when I had my Kitcar. He had all sorts of cars in and seemed very knowledgeable. Couple of years ago tho.
They are based in Chester.

Hello Steve,

I never meant that the rolling road wasn't available, just Rob isn't available.

Apparently they have a lad there who knows his way around single carbs but they call in Rob for twins. Sorry for any confusion squire.

Typical Msprt yarn....what the hell someone who can sort a single carb but not two... is not worth his weight in ******* on a dyno

If he can't sort 2 carbs he can't possibly run a dyno

Massive disappointment, the foresight of a cave-dwelling fish -

Msprt not Rob, he's a good man, any ignition system, webers, injection, on any engine he can do them all very well.

Its a frustrating disgrace the rolling road is sat there and non of us can use it...
