My suggestion? Drop south to Margate, then drive the south coast, especially over Dorset/Devon way.

Years ago, my best mate had the same issue. Split with his girlfriend the day before he went on a weeks holiday. He went home, grabbed his coat, his credit card, got in his R5 Turbo and drove to Switzerland.... in January. Let's just say he had some adventures...

Cheers

Ian

Thats the idea, want a mini adventure!

If, as you say, you want to make an escape from a difficult life then you should know that geography
won't cause your problems to be far away because they travel with you and follow you (like the tax man)...
Solve the problems, address them at least, then go travelling with a light heart.

PS heading for Wales in a Mini is a bad idea - the roads there are for Land Rovers ONLY !

But surely its good to take a step back and clear your mind for a short period? Thats what i do when im stressed, i like to concentrate on the finer things in life to give my spirits a lift ;-) unless its something like a bill ( you cant run away from those if seems :-P ) whatever you do, your mini will surely clear your head!!!

The Yorkshire Dales are lovely to drive around - a lot of fun! I'm biased though, being in Leeds ;-)

Really do recommend it though, there are some great pubs to stay over in that so a hearty breakfast. I'd let it digest before you fly around the Dales roads though!

Good advice. It might be hard, but face it then go driving with a smile.

Still haven't gone anywhere yet! Did the retro run to Germany which was great, I highly recommend it. Very tempted to just take off for a few days and see where the roads take me......

Just read through this quickly and although people have mentioned it before I would like to suggest Scotland again.

I moved from the highlands, specifically Loch Tayside, to just below the Yorkshire Dales and although the dales are very nice to drive and very scenic, they feel very......restricted. Every corner you see has a 40, 30 or even 20 mph limit on it whereas in Scotland because there isnt many people you can drive for 30miles without going near a town and you dont worry about if there is a policemen in the next hedge spying on you. But you dont need to do stupid speeds to enjoy the roads its just nice to know your unrestricted, if you get my drift. Also you could drive from one end of the loch to the other (roughly 20 miles) and not meet a single car. The roads are fun and yet not hideously potholed. If you want a real adventure and dont mind a bit of little drizzle........ head up the west coast and go wherever you wish. No need to head as far north as Skye etc, mainly stick to Oban-ish areas

I wish i had a mini when i lived up there, my first car (Fiat Grande Punto) was fun but no where near the mini. Ofcourse it depends on what you want a drive to be like but personally......Highlands of scotland any day

After coming back from the South Island of New Zealand on a road trip, the UK seemed a bit underwhelming to me. I'd go to Scotland though
