Please partake in this important socio-geographical experiment (OK it's actually to settle a debate in the pub)

The childhood practice of giving another child a lift on the back of your bicycle, is commonly known as giving them a .... what??

... Please respond stating the phrase you would use and where you grew up, (as this appears to be making a difference.)

Ta!!

Well having now discussed this topic in various places including here, facebook and the pub, "backie" certainly seems to be the most universally used term and it's use stretches from as far south as Devon, right the way up to the Scottish borders. However there also seems to be odd pockets around country where the terms cog/coggy/crog/croggy are used instead, most noteably parts of East Anglia and the North East.

.....There also seems to be a few other random terms used elsewhere too..... where people are clearly just "making it up"!!
