Hmmmm interesting..... what part of Cambridgeshire did you live in, as the locals round here seem to call it a coggy/croggy!!

i always thought it was backie, as it is in good ol Essex! then again, we Essexonians live in our own dream world

cambridge..
Cog/Croggy etc seems to be the universal term over here in the west of the county (i.e. the St. Neots/Huntingdon area). They've never actually heard of the term "backie" round here, which is actually how the whole argument in the pub started in the first place. I'll have to try find someone from Peterborough to see what they call it in the north of the county....

Only ever once heard it called a 'backie' and thought they were an idiot...
Everybody here calls it a croggy, whether its on the bars, seat, or on stunt pegs.... Derby/Nottingham.
