Why bother changing the limit, there are times when I feel happy to get past 20 mph during rush hour etc,
and the other half of the time the limit is 30, but that's probably not what i'll be doing anyway.

Around here they have already changed about 80-90% of the 60, national limit areas to 60. alot of the 50 zones are now 40.
The urban, 30 zones are being extended much further out of towns than they used to be also.

i often speed... but only as and when i feel is a bit more appropriot, ie wider, quieter main roads. exiting villages ill speed up early etc

may as well remove the 5th gear of cars now save on manufacturing costs as at this rate 70's will come down to 60 as well

motorways meant to be going up to 80,

and 5th gear? nowadays most cars are made with 6 :P and the latest porsche 991 has 7 I believe and the Audi s8 has 8.

Our A4 is 7 speed, petrol too. Only really works with triptronic flappy paddle affairs as otherwise you'd end up in the wrong gear all the time.

A reduction to 50mph would be considered for "lower quality A and B roads" with "a relatively high number" of bends or junctions and where mean speeds are already below 50mph.

lower quality  , them's the bestest

The justification appears to be about half the fatalities happen in 60 zones - but what proportion of road usage is that?
